Story of My Life Lyrics
Written in these walls are the stories that I can't explain
I leave my heart open but it stays right here empty for days
[Liam]
She told me in the morning she don't feel the same about us in her bones
It seems to me that when I die...
-
I guess it's about a guy who dated with a girl, who he really and a little too much loves but the girl broke up, cuz she wasn't that much in love. The boy says that his whole life is about her and he still loves her. He also says that he will disapear (maybe suicide) cuz he knows that she will never love him.
-
I think they are telling about their own lifes. Like when Harry sings, "Written in these walls are the stories that I can't explain." He's talking about people calling him a womanizer and cheater and that type of stuff. But all he wants is somebody to love and that will love him, "I leave my heart open but it stays right here empty for days" Liam is talking about his breakup with Danielle Peazer, "She told me in the morning she don't feel the same about us in her bones" Zayn talks about his relationship and how he was having trouble with the long distance relationship so he's holding on too tight to keep them together, "And I'll be gone gone tonight
The ground beneath my feet is open wide
The way that I been holdin' on too tight
With nothing in between." In the chorus, Harry sings about the girls he goes on dates with and how he gives them hope that their relationship will work. "The story of my life I take her home
I drive all night to keep her warm and time...
Is frozen (the story of, the story of)
The story of my life I give her hope
I spend her love until she's broke inside
The story of my life (the story of, the story of"
Niall sings about his emotions. "Written on these walls are the colors that I can't change" And he sings about how management won't allow his relationships
"Leave my heart open but it stays right here in its cage" Louis is also singing about his relationship with Eleanor Calder and how their long distance relationship is trying to fall apart while he keeps it togther, "And I'll be gone gone tonight
The fire beneath my feet is burning bright
The way that I been holdin' on so tight
With nothing in between" Harry sings the chorus again.
Zayn sings about how his relationship is hard, "And I been waiting for this time to come around
But baby running after you is life chasing the clouds"
Niall sings about his relationships, "The story of my life I take her home
I drive all night to keep her warm and time...
Is frozen"
Then they all sing the chorus, "The story of my life I give her hope (give her hope)
I spend her love until she's broke inside (until she's broke inside)
The story of my life (the story of, the story of)
The story of my life
The story of my life (the story of, the story of)
The story of my life" :) -
"Story of my life" that line sums up that he accepts the circumstance. And that he knows that things are not changing. That he will always be there for her "drive all night to keep her warm". With the "time is froZen" line I feel like that can be perceived as him saying that when he is there for her protecting her that's when things are perfect and he doesn't want time to move. Written on these "walls are the colours I can't change" meaning that he can't change how he feels about her. "Leave my heart open but it stays right here in its cage" could mean that he offers His love but she never accepts it even though he is willing to take and accept all her love seen with "spend her love until she's broke inside". LLouis solo means that he(the boy not Louis :)) is ready for things to finally change e.g.(I'll be gone gone tonight the fire beneath my feet is burning bright...) he admits that he's bbeen holding on too tight "with nothing in between" I.e with no regrets. He goes on further to say that he feels his pursuit is pointless because "chasing you is like chasing the clouds" but ultimately even though his love is not reciprocated and he is broken he will still love her "although I'm broken my heart is untamed..still" meaning that his love is still raging to be taKen out of the "cage"
-
I think it's about a boy so desperately in love with a girl who is broken and insecure trying to push him away, "I leave my heart open but it stays right here empty for days", because she doesn't think she's good enough for him "she don't feel the same about us in her bones". "In her bones" suggests that this is her deeply personal opinion about their relationship as it shows connection to her own self, a part of her body that is hidden and unseen which implies insecurity. He accepts this about her and still loves her regardless, "..the colors that I can't change", colours metaphoric for personality.
Despite this, he is determined to care for her, "I take her home, I drive all night to keep her warm", and never let her go, "when I die these words will be written on my stone". He realises that he loves her a little too much "holdin' on too tight" and also in the line "I spend her love until she's broke inside", as the notion of spending until you're broke has negative and lightly aggressive connotations which contrasts with the tenderness of "love" and the word "inside".
This is why it is called Story Of My Life, because he knows she will always be broken, it's not something he can fix, but he will forever love her, care for her and keep her close. -
When it says 'the story of my life' and then 'I'll take her home, I'll drive all night to keep her warm and time is frozen.' I think it implies that his whole life revolves around this girl and he care's for her and that's why he takes her home (cause he's looking after her) (I get the vibe that she is asleep in the car too?). Cause when it say's 'and time is frozen' it's says to me that in that moment, driving in the car, is perfect because he does have to think about the other things or that she doesn't feel the same way about him (that's why I think she's asleep because she's not awake to rebut his love she is a asleep so for a second he can pretend that she loves him back and he's just there with her, looking after her, and pretending everything is alright, which is all he really wants.
"The story of my life I'll give her hope, i'll spend her love until she's broke inside.' For me this means that he'll do anything to make her happy ( e.g. 'I'll give her hope'). 'I'll spend her love' says that what little love that she does give him he'll take and when it says 'until she's broke inside' what ever love she shows him he'll take and he'll try to 'milk' her heart of all the love that she does have for him, just so that he can continue to feel like being with her isn't a waste of time because she doesn't feel the same way. 'Until she's broke inside' also implies that she's broken his heart but he still loves her and he wants her to feel even just a little bit of what he's feeling.
I kind of think that maybe its the best friend falling for the best friend scenario - e.g. 'written in these walls are the stories that I can't explain'…
'She told me in that morning that she doesn't feel the same about us in her bones' this can possibly back up my best friend x best friend theory again because it could mean that she doesn't want to ruin the friendship because they've been friends for ages? (^^ written in these walls are the stories that I can't explain (like all the crazy things they did as kids? the stories that no-one else would understand? their secrets?)) like it just doesn't feel right to her…
'Seems to me that when I die these word will be written on my stone' implies that he'll continue loving her until he dies. She is his one and only even if it's unrequited.
'Written in these walls are the colours that I can't change' implies that he can't change who he is, he is what he is, it's done.
'And i've been waiting for this time to come around, but baby running after you is like chasing the clouds' implies that maybe he finally told her he loved her (best friend x best friend scenario again?? maybe?) and she obviously doesn't feel the same e.g. 'running after you is like chasing clouds' their is really no point trying to make her love him, so he'll just continue loving her and that's the story of his life, she is the story of his life. -
Perfection.
-
I think it might mean that he loved her too much... and she felt suffocated. But he'd still do anything for her. "I'll spend her love until she's broke inside." "She told me in the morning she don't feel the same about us in her bones."
-
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
-
I think it's about a boy who's broken who loves a girl who is happy and the total opposite of him. Hence the "Although I am broken but my heart is untamed," and "I'll spend her love until she's broke inside." Maybe he thinks that being with him will break her since he is already broken.
"Holding on too tight," also suggests that maybe he loves her a little too much and is aware but can't stop, making him want to just disappear from her life since the lyrics then go on to say "I'll be gone tonight, the ground underneath is open wide."
