OneRepublic: Apologize Meaning
-
The song is about trees. You hear the singer say...
Tell me that you need me then you go and cut me down.
Therefore, the song is about a tree. -
The person your in love with is filling you up with wonderful words and promises and makes you feel like your so far off the ground with them, and its to amazing to speak in case of ruining the moment. They always say they need you and love you but turn around and hurt you, lie to you and cheat. Always apologizing. But after a while you get tired of it, tired of hurting. Even though you think your heart can't beat without this person it is time to let go. You have to say goodbye, you can't go throught one more lie. You gave them enough chances you took lie after lie and forgave them, they used the fact that you love to a point where they know whatever they do you will forgive them. But even when you finally say goodbye and are done with it, there is a part of you still holding on to what you had with that person. Your heart still belongs to them.
-
Well, anybody can relate the songs thru personal experiences. I think, its about emotion run deep that a person can't take any longer from her/his partner behaviour.
She/He tried very hard to understand the person they loved but failed. Pleading the loved one to open up her/himself so that they can be understand. She loves that guy so much and willing to take the risk for loving him but she's been unappreciated at all. -
The guys hangs himself and can hear what the person is saying to him but he can't respond because his neck is broken so when his friend cuts him down its to late for him to apologize because his friend is dead
-
It is really good and it shows that the first person is sick of the second person cheating and does not want to hear there excuses any more.
-
this song is about a kid in kindergarten who got kicked in the head by a first grader. they talk to the principal and eventually the first grader feels sorry and tries to apologize. the kindergartener rejects the apology and says "it's too late to apologize."
-
Ok guys, this is how i see it, since it is a guy singing it. His Girlfriend cheated or whatever and he is in pain, as she tries to apologise all the time and he has had enough of it so he sings "its to late to apologise"
Get it through your head bitch, he dont want you back -
im holdin on your rope got me ten feet off the ground
hes holding onto the relationship and things are going well since hes off the ground like flying due to the relationship.
im hearing what you say but i just cant make a sound
he hears what shes telling him but is speechless and doesnt know what to say back
you tell me that you need me then you go and cut me down but wait
shes leading him on saying she loves and needs him and when he thinks it all good she cuts his rope and leaves.
you tell me that your sorry didnt think id turn around and say,
shes saying sorry but and she wont expect whats coming cause shes used to him always being there for her to come and go as she pleases
its too late to apalogize,
self explanatory
I'd take another chance, take a fall
Take a shot for you
he wants to take her back he doesnt wanna let go of what they have
And I need you like a heart needs a beat
But it's nothin new
he feels like shes not a want but a need a neccessity
I loved you with a fire red-
Now it's turning blue,
blue fire is more dangerous. the relationship is becoming harmful for him
and you say...
"Sorry" like the angel heaven let me think was you
he thought she was an angel and wouldnt hurt him like this but shes always having to say sorry
But I'm afraid...
even though he wants to take her back he knows he finally has to let go.
and then again its too late she already messed up and lost him -

For the record, this song is in no way about suicide.
This song is about someone breaking up with Tedder, and how she tried to revive their broken relationship even though it was too late to bring it back to life. -
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
-
Maybe the singer had a girlfriend(or I heard something about a sister) who called him and said "It's too late to apologize" then hung herself.
"I'm holding on your rope got me 10 feet off the ground"
"Tell me that you need me then you go and cut me down"
Now he feels guilty because he caused his girlfriend/sister to die.
PS- This is just an idea based on what I've heard around. -
In my opinion it is related to the declaration of independence of united states.
-
I'm holding on your rope,
Got me ten feet off the ground
(Person A (singer) is so in love with Person B(whoever person a is singing to) that it's like he's not apart of the rest of the world, he's holding on to Person B even though it takes him off of the ground...which stands for all that is safe......it also doubles as a resource for the suicide theme in the song)
I'm hearing what you say but I just can't make a sound
(Whatever Person B is telling Person A is making no sense..he just can't believe that its OVER)
You tell me that you need me
Then you go and cut me down, but wait
You tell me that you're sorry
Didn't think I'd turn around, and say...
(Person B led Person A on to believe that they loved them then decided it wasn't real...But then Person B realizes that they were just scared and is ready to be with Person A but Person A catches Person B by surprise by saying........)
It's too late to apologize, it's too late
I said it's too late to apologize, it's too late
(Simple. It's too late)
I'd take another chance, take a fall
Take a shot for you
(This is proof that it's about suicide. Person A still loves Person B and would take the pain again just to be with her)
And I need you like a heart needs a beat
But it's nothin new
(again with the suicide theme "heart"? "beat"?...Person A is saying they need Person B to stay alive but that's not news because Person A has always been in love wiht Person B)
I loved you with a fire red-
Now it's turning blue,
(Most people thinks that this means Person A is loosing their love for Person B, but it actually means Person A's love just grows stronger with each second)
and you say...
"Sorry" like the angel heaven let me think was you
But I'm afraid...
("angel" and "heaven" help the suicide theme...Person B says sorry like an angel...Person A belived Person B to be perfect and wonderful like an angel but it's.........)
It's too late to apologize, it's too late
I said it's too late to apologize, it's too late
Bridge (guitar/piano)
It's too late to apologize, it's too late
I said it's too late to apologize, it's too late
It's too late to apologize, yeah
I said it's too late to apologize, yeah-
I'm holdin on your rope, got me ten feet off the ground...
This song is about Person A and Person B's relationship being over because Person B wants to discover more about themselves and cant do that when they are with Person B. Person A can't stand the pain of being without Person B so they commit suicide. Right after Person A's death, Person B realizes that the best part of themselves was the part that was right by Person A's side and decides to go back to Person A. But it's too late. -
In my opinion, this song is about suicide.
When it says 'I'm holding on your rope, got me ten feet off the ground' I picture someone hanging.
'You tell me that you need me, then you go and cut me down, but wait' to me means that the second person has found the person and tries to rescue them by cutting them down, telling them how much they 'love and need' them.
I think the line about 'I'd take another chance, take a fall, take a shot for you.' means the first person has suffered too many hardships in this relationship and can't handle it anymore, thus the reason why they take their own life.
'I loved you with a fire red, now it's turning blue' could mean that in the beginning, everything was fine and normal, but things got more intense and complicated, as a blue fire is hotter then a red one.
'It's too late to apologize' means just that. It's too late for apologies when the person you're apologizing to is dead.
Just my interpretation of it. :)
