OneRepublic: Apologize Meaning

My opinion about the meaning of this song, and this is just MY opinion, is that the singer loves a girl, a girlfriend. She means everything to him (I’d take another chance, take a fall, take a shot for you. I need you like a heart needs a beat, but it’s nothin’ new.) But she has been cheating on him or whatever and all the time she comes back and says that she's sorry (You tell me that you need me, then you go and cut me down, but wait, you tell me that you’re sorry).
The singer knows that even though he still loves her, he can't handle her cheating on him time after time (Didn’t think I’d turn around and say, that it’s too late to apologize, it’s too late... I said it’s too late to apologize. It’s too late.) So he tells her that it's too late for her to come back and say she's sorry. He's done. But... he still loves her, even more than before (I loved you with a fire red but it's turning blue). Blue flame is WAY hotter than red flame.
The girl gives the singer a reason for living. (I'm holding on your rope...), but he can't stand it any longer. -
just want to say that blue fire is actually hotter than red. More dangerous. If you burn your finger on red fire, you get a burn.
But if you do it with blue fire the finger comes off!
Red fire is the weakest... which puts the song into a whole other context.
Maybe its him that needs to apologize...? -
I think besides those views that it isn't about lying. It is more about the girl sitting there and belittleing and verbally or mentally abusing him and like always saying sorry afterwards. She didn't expect him to turn around and say that it is too late to appologize because she has treated him this way many times and he has said nothing back. He has finally had enough of being treated horribly and is finally able to say goodbye because this was the last straw. the red to blue emphisizes that his love has slowly died off due to the disrespect she has given.

I believe this song goes more deeper then just a break up woth his lying girlfriend. If you look at the lyrics closely, it seems as if the guy has committed suicide hence lines such as
" I'm holding on your rope , got me ten feet off the ground",
" I'm hearing what you say but I just can't make a sound" ,
" I need you like a heart needs a beat but its nothing new"
the girl goes to rescue you him , but what she doesn't realize until she gets there is that it's too late.
"I loved you with a fire red, now its turning blue"
- his flame used to be blazing for her nad her love but now its turning blue because his fire has died for her and also his life is no longer.
The angel line also demonstrates how she came once again to say sorry, but this time she can't save herself or him from her lies -
I believe that the song isn't just about a lying romantic relationship. To me, the singer is at the end of his/her rope because everything that happens in his/her life is a lie. And now the singer is "holding on your rope" trying to hold onto the relationships and connections with the people that "loved... with a fire red"(the people really important, ones you would give your life for), but his/her hands (10 fingers=both hands) are to occupied with holding onto the truth in life. And now it's "too late to apologize" about lying, and the singer won't take it anymore. Although the singer still loves his/her close people, it is a cold passionless relationship (the fire turning blue".)

This is about a guy that was dating a girl but she would constantly lie to him then apologize for the sake of keeping him. After a while, however, hegot fed up with her constant lies and lost respect for her so they broke up. When she comes back to him to apologize, he simply says its too late.
