Angels Lyrics

Wake me if you're out there!

Through the glass in my bedroom window
In the bushes far below,
I thought I saw an unfamiliar shadow
Among the ones I so clearly know

I've been sleeping with the nightlight unplugged
With a note on the...

For those of you that dont know, Adam Young is a devout Christian and Hebrews 13:2 States: "Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it." This song is just Adam's creative and poetic way of expressing the truth that God's angels truly surround us everyday both in angelic and human form.

It's about how everyone talks about the angels that save you, and how he's feeling lost in life. He wants to know that the angels are out there, so he's telling them to come, that he's done everything he can, but still he's lost, and he needs a guardian.

Whenever I hear this song, I immediately think of the weeping angels in Doctor Who...
Am I the only one that thinks of this?

I believe this song is about how god's "messengers" are all around we just don't the time to see them. I'm Christian and i saw an angel when i was a little younger, you don't have to believe me, i could care less, lol but anyway. I agree with pretty much every interpretation that is there but i just think this song was cool because whenever i listen to it, it reminds me of meeting my angel. =)

I know this is rather far-fetched, but I think the verses may be about a child trying to find physical proof of fantasy characters (be it santa claus, be it fairies, be it angels) and when he's grown up he realizes the wonder he was looking for was actually in every person surrounding him. So, literally, there are angels all around.

I submitted this a while ago and I reread it and realized it needed revising. I only changed one word but it is an important one... He says that he is NOT praying to the ceiling anymore. Makes my point much better than if I forget the not, like I did when I posted this back in august.. Thanks!!

I see alot of people talk about his faith and although I gather from his music that he believes in God and christ, I would call Adam Young one of the few "logical" Christians I have experienced in my life. He says "I believe, so I'm NOT praying to the ceiling anymore" I think this is because the traditional constructs of religion have us looking in the wrong place.
"I believe there are beautiful things seen by the astronauts" I think is about "heaven" being a physical place that could be visited by astronauts.

"Indications reveal (wake me if your out there)
That few of us realize life is quite surreal
if you're dying to see, I guarantee there are angels around your vicinity"
Call them what you want: angels, watchers, guardians, messengers, aliens. They are all an interpretation of the same being. He wants contact to be established because he knows that they are there and effecting things in his life but he would like to meet them because they always seem to remain just out reach.

I think it's about a person who lost a loved one and became a bit paranoid something will happen to them too in till one night when they thought they saw that person among the shadows outside their bedroom. Then they stopped doing things like making sure the windows are locked and sleeping with a light and left a note for the person's spirt to communicate with them.

This is about how Adam wants to meet an Angel and pick a time and a place to do so. He wants peole to know what he believes and that it is the truth. He lets people know that there are Angels out there and they help you.

Adam Young said that this is a rather spiritual song about wanting to come in contact with angels, and about how angels from heaven exist all over this planet.
