Owl City: Rainbow Veins Meaning
Rainbow Veins Lyrics
Bright eyes and subtle variations of blue
Everywhere is balanced there like a rainbow above you
Street lights glisten on the boulevard
And cold nights make staying alert so hard
For heaven's sake, keep me...

#1 top rated interpretation:I think this song is about a guy that runs into a sad girl and falls in love with her at first sight. But she is still upset over a resent breakup, and some people want to be left alone when they are sad, explaining, that part that says"Exhale the stress so you don't come unglued" And the part that says, "Somewhere there is a happy affair, a ghost of a good mood" Meaning, it's the ghost of what was her good mood and she needs to find her happy place with him in order to return the ghost to were it belongs; inside of her. I hope you could understand my meaning.

#2 top rated interpretation:This song seems to be about a girl who has been hurt alot in past relationships and is scared to be in another one for the fear of having to let go once again. Its like Adam's way of telling her he can make things okay again and that he can make her happy, and brighten her life again. "ill blend up that rainbow above you and shoot it through your veins" over all its a cute song about a guy courting a girl the proper way, i love it (:

#3 top rated interpretation:"The feeling of letting go, I guess we'll never know" I think this song is about two people that have never had someone to love, so theyve never had to let go. Therefore, they are sad, until they realize that they can brighten up each others life up[:

Yes I clearly know
that life doesn't have a happy ending, either happy beginning. This verse"Your nerves gather with the altitude Exhale the stress so you don't come unglued" really tells that Throw off your travail or stress that's in you so that you can be insane or mad off of the stress. Forget about the stress and be who you really are.

When I hear the first verse I think of the return of Christ. As he sings about staying alert and not being caught off guard it reminds me of when Jesus tells his followers to be alert since they do not know when he'll return. Hearing how he views himself as a passer by who'll find a place to stay it sounds a lot like the Apostle Paul when he says that he is "not of this world" but rather a temporary resident here on Earth. I know this doesn't quite fit with the rest of the song but I enjoy to try to find scripture in Adam's songs.

The lines "I'll blend up that rainbow above you and shoot it through your veins 'cause your heart has a lack of colour" seems cringeworthy at first, but if you can see it seen as blood donation, or one heart beating faster to help another one that's less vigorous, it can be heartwarming in an odd sort of way.

This song is not about Adam doing drugs ok Adam is a Christian guy!
-
I have heard it is about using drugs and tripping. But that is just what I heard, and what I hear in the song, but I still love it anyway.

I think this song shows that every person needs another to keep them sane. (:
