Owl City: Dental Care Meaning
Dental Care Lyrics
And look in the mirror
And laugh out loud
As I'm beaming from ear to ear
I'd rather pick flowers
Instead of fights
And rather than flaunt my style
I'd flash you a smile
Of clean pearly whites
I've been to the...

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

Did any one catch the double entendre about dentists screaming and losing their patience? It could also be patients, because I wouldn't want a dentist screaming at me or I would never go back...
Clever song writer. -
Stop thinking about what it means. It's a funny song about going to the dentist...

To be completely honest, I believe most of Adam's songs have many meanings, depending on how you interpret them. I'm not going to tell you how or what to interpret his songs as.. He wrote this song for his own reason, and I believe that he would be flattered that his song has any meaning to you regardless of that reason. So guys, just enjoy this song.

I want to find meaning for this song but only a few things i understand ...
he says ; golf and alcohol dont mix/ so he is saying that are people with different thoughts and not similar points of views of the world and them he says / thats why i dont drink and drive/ because he is not that kind of people that have too much proud and don't go with this mix of thoughts /than he says / Because good grief, I'd knock out my teeth and have to kiss my smile goodbye / this is because he don't want to regret with some miss understood and do something that dont gonna be good later
than he says/ Talking only brings the toothaches on me Because I say the stupidest things
So if my result goes south
I'll swallow my pride with an Aspirin
And shut my mouth
THIS PART DONT HAVE ANYTHING TO EXPLAIN because he says that don't wanna talk or criticize some one and be stupid later and with is the case he is wrong he is swallow his pride like a remedy and don't speak more than this...
the other parts are to hard to understand so i will do more research because i dont believe that adam is a man that make a song so easily and not meaning -
You people are always trying to put meaning where it doesnt belong. this song is simple to understand. Not everything Adam writes has to have a meaning, let alone a intricate meaning that is always about love. This song is about how he feels twards his teeth. How he respects them and would never let something happen to them. He would rather be happy and nice, then to have to fight, otherwords a passifist. Just dont think so deep -Tomoya

I think that this song is just about being yourself, and even though sometimes life is rough (visiting the dentist could be a metaphor for this), don't do anything stupid (like getting into alcohol and stuff like that). This song makes me smile, and I do have a memory of one of my past crushes making up choreography to it. :)
-
if you listen alot of it has double meanings (And that's why I don't drink and drive)
(A thousand times, so I know the drill)
(That's when dentists scream and lose their patience)
But yes its about how adam loves his teeth to be clean -
this song is obviously about Adam's teeth and how much he appreciates them and cleans them. his teeth make him feel good, except he gets a little nervous in the dentist office still. and he is saying how he doesn't wanna loose his teeth by doing stupid things and he loves his smile :)
-
i think it means he's nervous about going to the dentist guys....idk...i could be wrong but you know, it kinda flat out says it and has no otherway of it possibly meaning anything else....kinda like the song peaches ^_^
-
He wrote this in the waiting room waiting for the dentist! Gottah love him! <3.
-
I think he's trying to say love or a relationship is metaphorically going to the dentist.
-
He would rather charm a girl with his smile then make a foo lof himself pulling some giant stunt to "woo" her. *ahem* movies! *cough cough*
-
Adam likes to have clean teeth. They make him feel clean.
