Rihanna: We Found Love Meaning
Song Released: 2011
We Found Love Lyrics
Yellow diamonds in the light
And we're standing side by side
As your shadow crosses mine
What it takes to come alive
It's the way I’m feeling I just can't deny
But I've gotta let it go
We found love in a hopeless place
We...
-
Its all about love and love being like a drug... The good feeling of it and the dangers of it
-
i don't wanna illustrate anything i wanna ask what's the meaning of the "1 EYE", towards the end of the video??.
-
I think the song is almost celebratory, its not degrading what they had, and she wouldn't want it to have ended any other way. She is simply rejoicing over the fact that this love, however irrational or misguided it was, made her alive. The song is an inspirational reminder of the humanistic definition of love and how it transcends circumstance. She feels lost without love, because she has so freely given her self to its pursuit. She is open to feel anything in life, whether it is good or bad. The song/video show a portrait of unconquerable youth, a woman who is truly loving.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=JIlsboLLzJQ at 5:50 seconds into the video she explains what the song is about
-
This song is about two people who fell in love in a completely unhealthy environment. Although their love was undoubtably real, they both suffered from addiction and codependency. The codependency is illustrated in the beginning in the video when she says "You almost feel ashamed that someone could be that important that without them you feel like nothing." Although they are madly in love, their love is not strong enough to endure the hardships of their addiction.
-
I think this video shows that although there is so many bad things in the world right now you can sill find love. Its a hopeless place because its such a bad place now.
-
The song is obviously about what drugs do to a relationship.
-
I Think This song is all about love and the danger of being addicted to another person. The drugs In the video is just a symbol of the addiction. She loves him to much and feels Like she is nothing without him. Just a guess. In the end she realises that he is no good for her and she finally lets go of a hopeless love.
-
"It's like screaming, and no-one can hear. You almost feel ashamed that someone could be that important; that without them, you feel like nothing. No-one will ever understand how much it hurts. You feel hopeless, like nothing can save you. And, when it's over, and it's gone, you almost wish you could have all that bad stuff back, so you could have the good." Song has to be about the confused and hurt feelings about her relationship with Chris.
"Yellow Diamonds in the light, now we're standing side by side. As your shadow crosses mine, what it takes to come alive."
Yellow diamonds are one of, if not THE most precious and rare diamonds there are. Both Rihanna and Chris are at the top of the world right now, some of the most famous, talented people who are alive, if not, ever lived. They cast shadows on the people and artists who are not "#1" at the time they are. Their careers are like a "#1" ping-pong game right now, their "shadows" crossing each-others.
"It's the way I'm felling, I just can't deny, but I gotta let it go."
She obviously will always love him, the relationship they had is something they will both probably think about for the rest of their lives, growing up, coming of age some of the most famous people alive. Being able to anything and go anywhere you would like, with the person you love. She misses those feelings, those times, but it's just that...The past. It could never be the same, no matter how much she would like it to be. So, she knows she has to let the feelings go.
"We found love in a hopeless place"
It's about as simple as it gets. Still being young, being entertainers, being all over the world at different times from each other. Having guys or girls throwing themselves at you. A true, committed relationship is hopeless in that enviornment. Too many distractions, not enough attention paid, too many chances for things to go astray.
"Shine a light through an open door,
Love and life, I will divide
Turn away cause I need you more
Feel the heartbeat in my mind."
She can succeed in anything she pursues, any "open door". But in order to stay on that path she needs to keep her relationships out of the public eye. If she were to follow the feelings she still has it would begin a downward spiral in her career. She needs to turn her attention away from her feelings, because the more she thinks about it, the deeper she feels. But she feels that they still and will always be one because she can still "feel" his heartbeat in her mind. -
she is in love with chris brown still..... the guy looks like him

Yellow diamonds in the light refers to MDMA (the drug) it is a well known phrase in the clubbing world... the drug is bad but makes you feel in like you love everyone and the ones you already love you love more and all cares and worries disappear. mdma also makes you loose your inhibitions. in the video there is a close up shot of a eye showing drug use!
We found love in a hopeless place - this again is in refrence to MDMA - you can feel love the the worst of places and it still means somthing..
Shine a light through an open door
Love and life I will divide - this is in refrence to being in a night club. dark but yet so bright... in clubbing culture it is known that you bring love - for people, a good time and for music and leave your life troubles by the door!
Feel the heartbeat in my mind - is in refrence to when clubbing on mdma - the base of the music and the euphoria you feel, mix and you can feel your hart beat with love in time to the music....
this song was written by Calvin Harris, not with rihanna in mind, so the comparisons to her and chris brown incorrect.
the song is about love, in way of clubbing and after the clubbing has ended. and the "glow" of the drug has worn off! -
I think, as many people are saying, this is about people who fell in love, but they can't be in love. I however think, also, that they really aren't in love. If you watch the video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tg00YEETFzg
you will see that they "fell in love" because they were on drugs, drinking. Throughout the video, it shows raves, pills, cans of alcohol, and her boyfriend passed out on the floor. So they found love in a hopeless place, meaning they found love in drugs, and LOVE + DRUGS is like dividing by zero. You just can't do it. -
they found love while in another mindset (drunk, high etc). while regular(when in the car), she's mature and doesnt understand how all of this happened. but when theyre in that different mindset, everything is fun and understandable because thats how they fell in love.
-
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
-
Of course, it means that "We found love in a hopeless place." It's straight forward. In the video, they had drugs, they were all high, and that's how they "loved" each other. Truly, she just was all high and was having some fun, but they fell in love too fast, in a hopeless way. They took more drugs, acted silly, and then one day when it got to her when he was acting all high, she's like I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE, she leaves, and she walks away from it. She misses it because of all the affairs she had with him in the bathub and in her room... But he is crazy, and she knows that/
