Nowhere Kids Lyrics

All it takes is a main attraction, scattered bones underneath the fashion. Lower life on a higher plane, that's what you want, that's what they're givin' away.
Photogenic, come and get it, you can have it, take it all! Schizophrenic, so...

Ok kids, here's what the song is really about.
Its basically about a boy with serious mental problems who wants a fresh start on life.
He pretends to have schizophrenia to get attention in hopes somebody will help him. ( mainly a girl he is attracted to )

It's a long story, but I have lived it. As a matter of fact I have lived every song in Shinedown's Amaryllis album.

Kids lost in society's race for fame and fortune and the ones who have fallen from there otherwise perfect lives.

i think it's referring to the past generations, the cliches, the cliques, the scenes, and all the petty things that has evolved over the years. and how our generation is not a generation of any of these things, we are nowhere kids, we don't belong to any group scene. so we'll be the ones to do away with it. the idea goes well with their song "unity"

"All it takes is a main attraction
    Scattered bones underneath the fashion
Lower life on a higher plane
That's whatchu want, that's what they're giving away"

Here it's talking about how we are all attracted the overrated lifestyle, the way things are given freely. it's just as empty underneath all the glitter

Photogenic, come and get it, you can have it, take it all
    Schizophrenic, so sadistic, I don't know, I don't know
Politician, sick condition, dying for a curtain call
Counter culture, full of vultures, betchu think I'm one

we all want to be beautiful, it's rediculous all the things we do to attain beauty.
we're all worried about our image. and when we get anxious we just don't know what to do, or to lazy so we say "i don't know, i don't know"
Politicians are corrupt, it's sick. we need a political revolution.
The only other culture to delve into is full of vultures, people who just wanna use you. a place where youth can't thrive

We're going all out to get 'em up, get 'em up
But if they wanna take a picture tell 'em I don't give a fuck

we are trying to do everything we can to get rid of the problem, with a "i don't care" attitude. put your fist in the air if your with us. get em up, get em up. and if no one likes that we are making waves, then tell em we don't care

No one needs you after all
    That little social scene
    It’s just a hate machine
No one’s here to take your call
    And now your self esteem
Ain’t what it used to be

Nobody needs status, cliques, power, wealth, and all the other things we strive for. it's just another way to breed hatred. No one in our generation wants hatred, so we won't tolerate it. Because we see the way it tears down our self image, our self esteem, and our confidence.

    You’ve inspired
    The breath of ignorance
    The death of innocence
Guess who’s back and mad as hell
The nowhere kids that wished you well

The generation before us, with it's emphasis on sex and drugs and the "feel good" life has caused us all to become stupid and lazy. It has been the death of children's innocence, stolen away on the internet by images they can't forget. So now it's time for us to make a stand against the emphasis on sexual and alcoholic themes and say goodbye and good ridance to them.

The new face of an old distraction
Another victim with the same reaction
    A catastrophic contradiction at best
I know you’re hanging onto zeros
    Cause you got nothing left

It's the same old thing. We all face the same battle our parents did, just now it's more open because our parents did nothing to stop it. Now we are a victimized generation with the same reaction. it's a destructive and counter-productive cycle. We prove everyone right by meeting the status quo. we do that because we have nothing left to do.

in summary i think this song is a call to action. a demand that we stand up and face up. it's time our generation grew a pair and did something about the perversions of the lifestyle we live in. rise up above the status quo, raise the standard. and believe in a brighter future

This song is likely addressing the problems with today's generation, which is easily distracted by material things. This causes many to lose sight of vital values such as integrity and honesty, creating major problems for our future, which Shinedown cleverly expresses.
