Shinedown: Adrenaline Meaning
Song Released: 2012
Adrenaline Lyrics
Give me the wheel, so we can move a little faster
I make it real, I'm not a glorious disaster
What part of living says you gotta die?
I plan on burning through another nine lives
One more for measure, that's ten for the soul
That...

Honestly I agree with the drug abuse but I thought it was also about driving fast, “the needles in the red” could be a double meaning.

This song is most definitely about drug abuse. Since Brent is sober these days, this song either was written in the past or refers to the past. Here are the obvious reasons why this song is a metaphor for being high:
A.) "tic-toc, well is running dry" relates to needing a fix
B.)"need a shot again, that sweet adrenaline" obviously refers to intravenous drug abuse and since Brent is a recovering heroine addict, this assumption is very likely
C.)"dead scared bc im fearless in the head" I interpret as the way hard drug users are constantly testing their limits trying to catch their high
D.)"which way is up, when your high is low" is referring to the fact that heroine 'high' is actually a very down, relaxing buzz
E.)"bang bang bc the needles in the red" I believe is a metaphor for shooting up (or "banging")
F.)"its the love of the chase that created the ride" refers to the known fact that drug abusers are constantly increasing the amount of drugs they do due to tolerance and therefore, are "chasing" that buzz
this is just my interpretation, someone else might think I am totally wrong. but I think that is what makes a song a great one-whenever a song relates to many different people in many different ways. -
Its about when you need that last push to make it through...beet announced this at one if his concerts

i believe this song refers to brent's drug addiction... the reasoning for this.
1 - "Tick, tock i think the world is running dry."
2 - "I need a shot again, it's the adrenaline"
3 - "Bang, bang cause the needles in the red..."
