Sia: Breathe Me Meaning

Breathe Me Lyrics
I have been here many times before
Hurt myself again today
And, the worst part is there's no-one else to blame
Be my friend
Hold me, wrap me up
Unfold me
I am small
I'm needy
Warm me up
And breathe...

This song is about a girl who is going through depression, I have done a little research behind this song and the woman who wrote this song was severely depressed. She was alone with no one to help her, as said in the song "be my friend. Hold me. Wrap me up." She cuts herself, this song is this woman's life story, the woman who wrote the song. The minute and however many seconds of instrumental at the end of the song was supposed to be about her recovery? But one day she had enough. She had no recovery. she thought that nobody cared about her. So she killed herself. She got lost inside of herself not able to see that people really did care, as she cuts and you should know this from the song saying "ouch, I have hurt myself today."

I think this is about a girl who is being bullied and wants help but doesnt know how to find it. She wants to end her life but also wants help she is stuck between which one to do bc she doesnt wanna live witht he bullies getting to her

It's about a girl who is depressed and cuts to feel better. "Be my friend, hold me, wrap me up" means she's lonely and she wants somebody to be there for her. Also the "I am small" part means she is suffering a eating disorder And so she small. Also I think "Breathe Me" means like take a walk in her shoes. See how her life is and how it's not the best.

The meaning is not that complex; except in terms people are complex. She keeps repeating behavior that is not self-serving in an emotional healthy manner. It is like she is codependent to keep making the same mistakes over and over again. Yet she is wise to know she got through this before 'with a little (or lot) of help from friends'. She is depressed and knows it is her fault only in the sense she will keep being repetively harmful to herself until she gets her act together. There are programs like CoDa to stop being codependent; and the one I attend Al-Anon .. children that were trained to be codependent as children;yet as an adult we can re-educate ourselves; change our thinking and emotions.. etc.. I think this song really hits home to people in all kinds of different ways. For me, personally, it's an eating disorder. I've told several people as a cry got help, "hold me. Wrap me up. Unfold me. I am small. I'm needy. Breathe me." This song. I cry every time I try to interpret it. It's the most beautiful song I've ever listened to.
It's describes every aspect of my struggles with this eating disorder. Like it was written specifically for me. "I've lost myself again." As in, I've lost myself in this demon living inside. "Be my friend." Because I need someone who will listen and try to understand.
This extremely well written song will be interpreted differently depending on your own personal experiences. And that's the beauty of it. -
She's hurt. Cutting herself, perhaps?

I think the song is about a girl who has fallen into depression, and she needs a friend you can help her
-
I think the song is about a lonely girl who has a tough life. She's really sad and just wants a friend.
-
I think she is going through a rough time in her life and just needs a friend to help her through it and hold her through her nightmares and make everything better.
-
The song is about suffering from anxiety (and how you get wrapped up inside your own head) and the harm you can cause to yourself when you make bad decisions in that state of mind. In the video "The making of Colour the Small One" Sia confirmed this interpretation. That being said I think that it is general enough to apply to similarly subversive mental behviors (addiction, self-destruction, etc), and that is what makes it such a good song. Any artistic piece, should convey a message but have enough subtlty to allow for the individual to take from it what they need.

I think this song is about cutting. If you look at the lyrics (it just really fits and makes sense) but it could also just be about anything "bad"
-
I consider it to be a cry out for help. Whether it be an abusive relationship or an addiction, it's the realisation that she is alone and whatever it is is inhibiting her ability to move on.
It can be related to any scenario, for instance I did something that prevents me from achieving my life-long dream and there is literally 'no one else to blame' but myself. Its reality's slap in the face.
