The Fray: You Found Me Meaning
Song Released: 2008
You Found Me Lyrics
On the corner of First and Amistad
Where the west
Was all but won
All alone
Smoking his last cigarette
I said, Where you been?
He said, Ask anything.
Where were you
When everything was falling apart?
All my days
Were...

In an interview, lead singer and pianist Isaac Slade expressed his meaning behind the lyrics of the song:
You Found Me is a tough song for me. It's about the disappointment, the heart ache, the let down that comes with life. Sometimes you’re let down, sometimes you’re the one who lets someone else down. It gets hard to know who you can trust, who you can count on. This song came out of a tough time, and I’m still right in the thick of it. There’s some difficult circumstances my family and friends have been going through over the past year or so and can be overwhelming. It wears on me. It demands so much of my faith to keep believing, keep hoping in the unseen. Sometimes the tunnel has a light at the end, but usually they just look black as night. This song is about that feeling, and the hope that I still have, buried deep in my chest.”[10]
In another interview Isaac Slade declared that:
"I kept getting these phone calls from home - tragedy after tragedy... If there is some kind of Person in charge of this planet - are they sleeping? Smoking? Where are they? I just imagined running into God standing on a street corner like Bruce Springsteen, smoking a cigarette, and I'd have it out with Him." -
i personaly think that this song was inspired by emotions of pain, anger towards God,sadness and loneliness brought about tough times that he was going through. So in his pain and confusion he turns to God for answers about his situation.... But when he says you found me, i dont knw whetha its an expression of gratitude or an expression of dissappointment that he finds God and still his problems dont go away.... Though as christian i think therz sumthn wrong with the doctrine behind ths song...because knowing that God brings both good n bad times for the good of erbody that he loves shud help in taking away the anger n strengthn our trust in him in whateva situation we go through.. Not denying the sincere feeling bhind this song that we all feel at times by the way.... B.t.w am not so comfortable with the smoking line n the you ve got sum kind of nerve line ... Its kinda disrespective n irrevarrent 2wards a Holy God... Wateva the emotion behind the lyric. If any1 is going thru a tuff time i just want to say that God cares abt u eitha way n he wants us all to turn to him thru christ jesus.. Matt chpt 11 vs 28...

theres two ways to see this song. it could be god asking "why'd you have to wait" pointing out how man tends to turn to religion and god when they most need it and tends to distance himself when he has no need for it so it could be god asking him why he waited till that point to look for him. But the lyrics "i’ve been calling for years and years and years and years And you never left me no messages You never sent me no letters You got some kind of nerve Taking all I want" can be the man addressing how god has lacked to respond to the mans multiple attempts to reach out to him. He can be demanding an answer to why god never chose to answer his calls until it was to late

I think it's about suicide. "Lost and insecure, You found me, You found me, lying on the floor, Surrounded, Surrounded," When he says You, I think he's talking about God. Surrounded could mean either by his blood, his depression, or by maybe cops. He says, "Ask me anything" from the view of God, and hight might believe that when you die you get to have all of your questions by him. Also, he says, "all I needed was a call" which means he just needed help from God, but it never came, so that represent his depression and maybe a little bit of a need to know what was going on in the world and space. "But in the end, Everyone ends up alone" means that when you die you're alone no matter what. "No way to know, How long she will be next to me" means I think, how much time with her he will have after they are both dead, meaning when she will die. "Lost and insecure, You found me, you found me, Lying on the floor, Surrounded, surrounded, Why’d you have to wait?, Where were you, where were you?, Just a little late, You found me, You found me" another chorus, but this time he adds, "Why'd you have to wait, where were you, where were you, just a little late" It means that he could have been saved, but god came after he was dead, or maybe the girl mentioned earlier found him after he was dead, surrounded in blood, and she was just a little late.

to me it means God shows up sometimes unexpected "I found God on the corner of first and Amistad" and he also shows up in when you're sometimes the most desperate for peace, encouragement and reassurance " lost and insecure. You found me, you found me! Lyin' on the floor. Surrounded, surrounded. Why'd you have to wait? Where were you? Where were you? just a little late." thinking this could have happened sooner and why did i have to go through all this pain and suffering. your life is in gods hands he has a plan for you. So it's never to late to get saved.

My interpertation of this song is When anyone believe or have their faith hit rock bottom, and doubts draws in that GOD is to late to save, help, and deliver them from sin and problems. You know what GOD IS NEVER TO LATE!Feeling like its over, feeling lost, feeling like its to late...God hears your cries and cry with you. In the most pain GOD IS WITH YOU. He will never be to late to save you! In that time of lost and hurt and feeling like its to late to for life. That is when God walks in with his arms open saying I have never left you, I was with you through the pain.I am here to save you. GOD IS NEVER TO LATE!

I think this song means someone was going through a hard time, like losing someone they loved, in this case. When they were going through the rough and trying time, they prayed and prayed to God, asking for his help. They felt if they lost that person, they'd be lost without them. After a long time of praying, God finally talks to the person. God asks what's wrong, and the person says, "How do you not know what is wrong?! I lost someone I loved! And if you would've showed up sooner, that person may have been saved! But you chose this time, when it's too late, to answer! Why? Why did you do this to me?!" God explains that even though certain things in your life may seem unfair or confusing, God doesn't just make those things happen because he's bored. He lets things like that happen because he has a plan; everything happens for a reason. He knows it's hard for people to see the overall "big picture", but in the end, everything turns out okay. He works in mysterious ways, and even though we may not understand why something happened, we just need to have faith that God has a plan. It's like a pebble being tossed in a pond. One action causes many other actions to take place. It doesn't just happen because fate has nothing better to do. Everything is planned out. Everything will be okay in the end. If everything's not okay, then it's not the end. And God will make sure things get better, because they always do. You just need to have faith in him, and remain optimistic. After all, everything happens for a reason. :)

I think,as an atheist, that thee song is definitely about one wwho is fed up with the deceit of religious faith and is making an effort to dismiss the idea of a caring and supreme God.Its funny when people say he later realised that God was there for him.How can he when the same 'God' had allowed many bad things to happen to those he dearly loved. Why should God not rescue those ones too?

You all are fucking idiots, the lyrics say all my days were spent by the telephone, obviously god doesn't make phone calls. Its most likely about his father or somebody in his life not being around much or leaving him when he was young because sorry to break it to you idiots, but god does NOT have a cell phone:)
Thanks for listening -

To me, the song is about suicide. Notice that he states that he found god at the corner of first and amistad, but he found him a little too late. Too late because he already made the mistake of either killing himself (or looking later in the song, the death of "her"). It was not until the mistake of suicide was complete that he finally found God.
Look at the chorus, lost and insecure (suicidal if you ask me)
Lying on the floor (a body dead lies on the floor)
Why did you (meaning God) have to wait "until it was" just a little late?
Notice "in the end everyone ends up alone" suicide is the end.
The song is him crying out for help yet he does not get that help until it is too late.
Notice one last clue, the chorus is a question to "GOD", God tells him, Ask me anything, and he does, "why did you have to wait until it was too late to answer me? All i needed was a call (to hear from you)? -
This song reminds me of when my mom was sick with cancer when I was about 12. I was so lonely and angry at God. I had no one to talk to and help me. I was depressed. Taking my life had even crossed my mind several times. I wondered where God was. Everything was bottled up because my friends and family didn't let me talk about my mom, and I didn't feel like God was even listening. I think the man in the song was going to kill himself & asking God where He was. God turned things around and asked why he only wanted His help when he was sad. If you're depressed, get help. Things will get better. It's not going to be like this forever. & God never leaves you.

I don't think it really has to do much with God, and I think last cigarette just means he ran out of them or maybe he was just quitting.
-
how would you expect god if he showed up now when Jesus cmae he was poor and born in aa manger he was a child from the hood yet he was God. If he was here now he just as well be a bum smoking on a street corner why not he was a poor man before no house always travelong born in a MANGER! no t born in a castle why wouldnt he ? think abot it people this isnt an anti god song. Have an open mind and think!
