The Script: Exit Wounds Meaning
Exit Wounds Lyrics
Im still in shock, what have you done?
My head is pounding, my visions blurred
Your mouth is moving, I don't hear a word
And I hurt so bad, that I search my skin
For the entry point, where love went...

I listen to alot of The Script lately, infact, they are my favorite band! Anyways, back to the concept, it is about this guy/gal who is in pain of his/her former relationship and his/her former lover left him/her in depression, The line "And ricochet, and bounced around, you left a hole, when you walked out" That means you took in for killing him/her and after hating them, but to make it shorter, let it follow Bullet from a gun. You will understand.

This song is most possibly, if not definitely about what a guy goes through after a breakup.
Whether the mistake is on either side, when we leave a relationship, we are always bombarded with feelings of insecurity, because something that completed you before has left and become a fragment of the past, a memory. We aren't designed to always look forward, and most of the time we drown in our sorrow, every time we fail to look forward and reflect on the past instead.
In this song, it seems that the girl was the one who called for the breakup.
My hands are cold
My body's numb
I'm still in shock
What have you done
My head is pounding
My vision's blur
Your mouth is moving
I don't hear a word
When she breaks it to him, that she wants a breakup.
And it hurts so bad
That I search my skin
For the entry point
Where love went in
And ricocheted
And bounced around
And left a hole when you walked out
Describing the feelings that roars in us after a breakup.
I'm falling through the doors of the emergency room
Can anybody help me with these exit wounds
I don't know how much more love, this heart can lose
And I'm dying, dying from these exit wounds
Wooooounds, where their leaving, the scars you're keeping
Exit wounds
His cry out to the world, a plead for help. When we lose somebody, we lose ourselves, and we struggle with reality and ourselves.
Marks a battle
Still feel raw
A million pieces of me
On the floor
I'm damaged goods
For all to see
Now who would ever want to be with me
I've got all the baggage
Drink the pills
Yeah this is living but without the will
Blacken out
I'm shutting down
You've left a hole
You walked out
Describing his breakdown after she leaves. Taking pills, not having a will to live, breaking down (shutting down), realizing that there's a gaping hole in their life.
Loose your clothes and show your scars
That's who you are
Loose your clothes and show your scars
That's who you are
Loose your clothes and show your scars
That's who you are
Loose your clothes and show your scars
That's who you are
His way of trying to recover, trying to survive after.
Marks a battle
Still feel raw
A million pieces of me
On the floor
Pretty self-explanatory.
It's really devastating to go through a break up, and I myself am actually just broken up. Was my mistake, and it was just inevitable that she called for it. We make mistakes, and we don't look back - but somehow, life has its way of making us pay for them.
