The Used: All That I've Got Meaning
All That I've Got Lyrics
and catch me off guard, red handed
Now I'm far from lonely
Asleep I still see you lying next to me
So deep that it didn't even bleed and catch me I I I I I...
I need something else
would Someone please...
-
Well there's something that really bugs me.
"ill be just fine pretending I'm not"
is it saying ill be fine pretending I'm not fine?
because it doesn't really sound like he's fine. and that's dumb
or is it ill be just fine, I'm pretending, but I'm not fine..
kind of like he's saying "ill be just fine pretending" and then separately saying I'm not or that that isn't true
or is the whole thing just about loneliness and its ill be just fine pretending I'm not lonely -
Ok there are mant different ways of interpreting this song. for instance I changed the way I listen to it many times.
my first thought hearing it was he was singing about an attention seeker.. a "faker". Ie. "i'll be just FINE, PRETENDING I'm not" (ie. pretending I'm not fine). and "so deep that it didn't even bleed" = he lied bout cutting to "fit in" to the depressed click.
second impression was when I read it's about his dog. That could be true, the only bit I didn't get about that was the "screak f**k me" bit.
the third one I had was that he was emotionally torn and depressed and he was "far from lonely" and its all that he had. coz he had no one else left to comfort him so "lonely" did it. If you knwo what I mean.
in conclusion I think this song can mean many things to different people. Its all about how YOU relate to it. That's the beauty of music, you can listen to a song and it will be interpreted in so many ways to so many people.
as far as I'm concerned I will believe it is about what relates to me the most, like many others.
its an awesome song.
the end.. lmao F*CK I typed heaps. lolz

This song is about his girlfriend who was having his kid but she committed suicide. Losing the baby in the process. Bert wrote several different songs about the situation, this being one of them. It's so sad. A lot of the lyrics are saying that he wishes he could just dream and be able to still see her.
"Would someone please just give me
Hit me, knock me out
And let me go back to sleep
I can laugh
All I want inside I still am empty"
"Asleep I still see you lying next to me"
He also mentions that loneliness is the only feeling he has left. Pain and remorse haven't kicked in yet, so he's saying "It's all that I've got"
It's really emotional and sad.
The music video has nothing to do with the song but I think, it too, is amazing and wonderful. The whole book he searches for the end, not realizing that he's creating the end by constantly searching for it... Such tragically emo cuteness!! -
It's about his denial about his hurt. "I'm far from lonely, and it's all that I've got" is talking about all the people who are constantly around, checking on him. Expecting him to be upset, in a wreck, etc. But instead he isn't, he's hurt inside ["so deep, that it didn't even bleed"] but he doesn't show it on the outside. So to keep everyone else's expectations, he'll be just fine, pretending he's not.
Well, that's what I think anyway... -
Was the whole "it's about his dog dying" thing a joke ? I really hope it was. I've read in other places that the song's about Kate. The woman he was with who died. Look it up. I'm pretty sure, but I KNOW THE SONG'S NOT ABOUT HIS FUCKING DOG you morons. =]
-
Uhm. It's about how he got his heart broken. "I'll be just fine pretending I'm not; I'm far from lonely and it's all that I've got" its not about a freaking dog. He is saying he truly isn't lonely. He wants attention...so he'll be just fine pretending that he isn't fine.
idiots. -
OK WHAT THE FUCK...a song, about a dog or for a dog!...what does this mean ''I squoze so hard
I stopped your heart from beating
So deep that I didn't even scream f**k me.'' If this is about a dog, then I now hate this song..this is or used to be my favorite song! -
Most of you should know that Bert had a girlfriend, who was also pregnant with his child and she died. That is what this song is about. "I sleep I still see you lying next to me" it all seems a bit obvious!
-
The song isn't ABOUT his dog but rather dedicated to it. The song is about losing someone you love in general and how even though they're gone there's still a lot of people trying to see if they're ok. "I'm far from lonely and it's all that I've got" I'm sure Kate, his ex girlfriend who died in a car crash because she had overdosed on drugs, and his unborn child, were also inspiration for this song.

I heard that Bert had a girlfriend and she was pregnant with his baby and she had gotten in a car accident. I think that most of the album stemmed from that. look at "hard to say"
-
It is about the one you love dying but still being there like a apperation...
-
I don't get how it says 'I'm far from lonely and its all that I've got' it doesn't make sense.
-
I believe that this song is about deceit....Or hiding his true feelings....Even if this person is gone...He doesn't want to act like it doesn't bother him so that it doesn't hurt the other person.....Or maybe it just his secret coming out the closet song?????
-
It might be about his dog to him... But song's are partly made for the people who listen to them. The point is, it's about emotional pain which everyone has. What it really means is up to everyone's individual life. It could be a girl.. It could be a dog.. It could be a dream... Or something.
