Give Me a Reason Lyrics

Feed on me
You know I’m never far
Feed off me
Like a vulture on a deer hit by a car
I can only do so much
And of course it’s never enough
I don’t think that you see
Exactly what you’re doing to me

Don’t speak
Don’t speak

Give me a...

I relate it to relationships I have. when a girl leaves me to think all I think is negative thoughts. and I often look at things she could be doing, like cheating, or planning to leave me. now I trust her, but when I'm left alone to think, my mind says what if. and when I get these negative thoughts in my head I just want to see these negative things happen so I can leave and not have to think about them again. in my head it sounds logical when I think and get depressed but after m done thinking I know that shes good to me and if that situation did happen and I left id still feel horrible.

It's actually about his relationship with Three Days Grace in his final years with them.

I see relationships also as a house. We built and decorate our house just like working on a relationship. But it seems this person does feel trapped and want a reason to get out. Burn this relationship down thats a negative experience and put it behind him. He is just waiting for a reason to do it finally. To turn and run away. He feels like the other person is just eating away of him, like a vulture. Don't speak, don't even try to defend the situation.

Maybe he's in a relationship that is unsatisfactory, but there doesn't seem to be a concrete thing he can blame it on. He doesn't have a reason to end the relationship, instead he pleads with his partner to give him a reason. What would seem like a horrible thing would actually make him happy.

The verses don't seem very clear to me, that was mostly my interpretation of the chorus.

I've had this issue with my girlfriend as well as my roommate. My roommate is just a terrible and disrespectful person, and I'm desperately wishing that he'd do something bad/stupid enough to actually give me a reason to kick him out, instead he just does tons of little things. My girlfriend is the same way; she has several quirks that just make being in a relationship so stressful. I've found myself wishing that I could find some horrible secret deal-breaker kind of thing, which seems so terrible. I guess that's what's relatable to me.

I don't think this song is too complex. Not as much so as some of their others I mean. The song does interest me though, it seems to be about someone living with unreasonably high expectations, something that is starting to ruin them. Though the line "feed off me" does introduce a contrast. Like it may not be their own fault for the unreachable expectations. It might be the fault of the one who expects from the one the song is sung for. Rarely are expectations ever given without purpose. This can easily link into the line "You don't see, exactly what your doing to me" Which can relate to how the person doesn't know the expectations that their setting are too high.

"Give me a reason, to turn and run... give me a reason to burn this house down, give me a reason, I wish you would. Wish you would, wish you would." This part of the song seems to say that the character desperately wants to break away from their current life. That virtually anything would be better. That they should just leave, not just to get away, but to spite the other. Or burn down their home for the same reason. "Give me a reason, for dissaster and I'll live happily ever after" Reinforcing my previous statement. But then comes the "reason" they want to do it. They can't take it anymore and they believe they should take matters into their own hands. But they need a reason. Their thinking about it but not willing to act without reason. "If only" Instead of "I'm Gonna"

The song is about escape through a desolate daydream, at least... I think so.

My notes: I started really thinking about this song recently when my life started getting complicated, college, driving, my job, my school, homework, preparing for hollidays, Ect ect... And i've been nothing but yelled at in my own home recently and it's starting to drive me absolutely mad. it's why I can relate to this song so well, because it's so interesting to me.

if anyone else could, I just like hearing people's opinions so please don't make me the only one to post here.
