Song Released: 2006
Beast and the Harlot Lyrics
There's more than meets the eye round here, look to the waters of the deep.
A city of evil.
There sat a seven-headed beast, ten horns raised from his head.
Symbolic woman sits on his...

Well I have read articles on Avengened and the band says that they are not trying to "lead" people in any direction as far as religion goes they want people to keep their minds open to whatever but when I listen to their music and I come from a "hardcore" christian family but I've alwase been open minded but still myself I am a christian but when I am listing to the bands music it seems to me like a lot of their lyrics are comeing from or are in a sense biblical I love talking about religions and peoples thoughts on life and music is a very big part of my life so if any one has any feed back or likes to talk about these sorts of things the email me is spidermonkeyisfunny@yahoo.com thanx keep on listing to A7x no matter what their lyrics really mean they are still a great band and I will listen to them no matter what

yeah just about every word in this song is in Revalations (the last book in the bible) if you read it you can see. all they did was paraphrase it

the person earlier did a pretty good interpretation. The only thing is that the harlot from revelations actually represents all false religion. and she's the one who has been fornicating with the kings. I mean c'mon think about it, any war you can think of has been backed by certain "christian" religions. So that's what it means by the fornicating with the kings. and when it says "the poisoned wine" its talking about how in the bible it speaks of the harlot being "drunk on the blood of the holy ones" so along with fornicating with the kings this harlot is also persecuting true christians. but the bible also says that the beast (present day governments) will turn on the harlot, so she will no longer be riding the beast and it will leave her naked. when that happens its one of the very last signs of the times. but when the beast tries to turn on the one last true religion, the one that never fornicated with the beast by participating in its wars and things, then the end will come. revelations really is an interesting book. Its one of the few books in the bible that speaks specifically about the times we live in. actually if you wanted to discuss the meaning of revelations email me at kevinlgjr@hotmail.com. or you could go to the kingdom hall of jehovahs witnesses. Theyre about to start a book called revelation: its grand climax at hand.

I think that the song could be from the bible. Babylon is in the bible. What leads me to believe it's from the bible is that the lyrics say " fallen now is babylon the great"

Its about the end of the earth in that one verse from the bible.

The song is describing an ancient city but it also conjures visions of las vegas. Sin city has a very large influence on their videos and on the band as well

It is very likely that this song was taken from a verse of the bible. The name avenged sevenfold is from the book of genisis and is about the story of cain and able the song "chapter four" is about this storey and I belive the beast and the harlot is about the punishment of babaloyn from the book of revelations I am almost positive but feel free to correct me if I have made any mistakes.

I'm not exactly sure where it is, but I was told by a friend(who is obsessed with this band to an unhealthy degree) that the lyrics from this song are taken almost directly from the christian Bible. I have no idea whether this is true or not but it certainly sounds possible.
