Avenged Sevenfold: Nightmare Meaning
Song Released: 2010
Nightmare Lyrics
Now your nightmare comes to life.
Dragged you down below
Down to the devils show
To be his guest forever
Peace of mind is less than never
Hate to twist your mind
But God ain't on your side
An old acquaintance severed
Burn...
-
the only people who truly know the meaning is a7x....but my interpretation is about drug addiction, and trying to break the habit. -you wake up in sweat, but it aint over yet- yeah been there done that. truly is a nightmare believe me. ne way love the band passionately. pissed i cant go to rockstar uproar concert. rip sully
-
Fiction was not written for the rev either it was written by him before he died because the rest of the band were freaked out when they read the lyrics because its about them going threw life without him(the rev)
-
Granted, they based the music video off of one of The Rev's favorite movies, this song isn't necessarily about him.
If you read the lyrics, they (either directly or indirectly) point to Revelations, talking about the end of the world.
When the world ends, and if your not a Christian, you will be left on the earth.
After the rapture comes, its the end. God won't give you a second look, because he gave you all the chances in the world, and you just ignored them. *Hate to twist your mind, but God ain't on your side*
Fire will come to the earth after some time, and it will burn up everyting in its path. *Flesh is burning, you can smell it in the air*
You will have a choice when your left on earth: Be inked with the devil's number to survive (such as getting food and such) or die in starvation. *So stand in line, while they ink numbers in your head. Your now a slave until the end of time*
You should of taken in salvation when your had the chance, now your stuck on this earth. *You should have known, the price of evil.*
It hurts your family and friends to see your leaft here top die in pain. *And it hurts to know that you belong here.*
Your worst nightmare has come to life. *It's your f*cking nightmare.*
You will think its all a bad dream, and you yearn to wake up, but your forced to face the sick reality of it all. *Can't wake up in sweat, cause it ain't over yet. Still dancing with your demons.*
You brought all this pain on yourself. *Victim of your own creation.*
You have lost all your sense of way, and you feel a sick, twisted side take over. *Beyond the will to fight, where all that's worn is right.*
(Sorry, can't think of anything logical for the next few stanzas)
You can't call anyone to save you. Everyone is your enemy at this point, losing their sanity. *No one to call, everybody to fear.*
Your end has become clear. There is no escaping the hell you are placed in. *Your tragic fate is looking so clear.*
Your sanity has long been gone, and your fighting just to stay alive. *Fight. (fight) Not to fear, not to fall. Or you'll end up like the others. Die (die). Die again, drenched in sin, with no respect for another.*
You're being swayed by the demons that are possessing you. You don't know what to believe at this point. *And I know your hear them voices. And I know they may seem real.*
The world around you had become evil, and they confused you as to what to believe. *They took for granted your soul*
And for their lack, your have to pay. *and its ours now to steal* -
Actually, I tend to think that this song is about overcoming an addiction.Nightmare basically means the drug overtaking you as it comes to live.
-
someone up there said the rev wrote this actually m shadows wrote the lyrics on his bike headed home from a game of basket ball then wrote rough guitar parts that night all b4 the rev died
-
It's about society and how everyone is trying to make everyone the same and that you should be different. This song teaches us that it's good to rebel. If you were really A7X fans, you would know
-
This song was written before jimmy"the rev" sullivan(r.i.p) died but its about the consequences in life for the choices we make.....notice the lyrics......
-
This song is obviously about going to hell.
"Dragged you down below, down to the devils show" that's hell.
"To be his guest forever" you'll spend eternity down there.
And its everyones nightmare to go to hell whether they know it or not. -
I could be totally wrong here but i'm fairly certain it's about the rapture which is the end of the world where christians go to heaven and sinners to hell.
Cause men like you have such an easy soul to steal (steal) this means it's so easy to take 'men like you' (sinners) to hell because of all their sins.
yearning pull the trigger which means you want to end it but your in hell so you can't.
Loathing self-assassination is another way of saaying you want to commit suicide.
The song itself is about your nightmare and fear of going to hell rhnce the scared child on the front of the album cover
I hope you find this very helpfull-A.T -
Alright to all you peoples who are not thinking about a series of events that happened some 70 years ago and cahnged the world. Well in the 1940's during wwii hitler enslaved the jews saying that they were the cause of all evil and were sinners. When they got to the death camps they were marked with tattoo's and forced into slavery. Draged you down below down to the devils show, down to germany to hitlers nazi camps, to be his guest forever, he wasn't planning on loosing the war. So this song is about the holocaust.

i agree with the person who wrote: "This song isn't about Jimmy. Although I believe the music video is dedicated to him; because of the empty drum set at the end of the video. However it seems that this song is about paying the price for your sins by burning in hell, not because the fact whether you were Christan or not. You don't necessarily have to be Christian to go to heaven, or whatever holy land you believe in, it's based on the way you live your life. And i'm guessing with Jimmy's drug use, he saying he's going to hell. "You should have known, the price of evil." says it right there." this is totally tru
-
It's about hell. You're evil and you do bad things you go to hell and have to live with the consequences of it being like a nightmare. And even though you hate it you know that you deserve to be there because the stuff you did was wrong.

True it is in fact not for jimmy, but it was kept the way it is for jimmy in his memory, before he died he thought that the song should stay how it was and so when he dies the honored that wish and put the song on the album how it is/was
-
i think this song is about somebody who while living was a bad person and when they died they had to pay the price. the person realizes the nightmare is real. but it also could be about the drummer.
