Nightmare Lyrics

NIGHTMARE!
Now your nightmare comes to life.

Dragged you down below
Down to the devils show
To be his guest forever
Peace of mind is less than never

Hate to twist your mind
But God ain't on your side
An old acquaintance severed
Burn...

I believe it is about the rev and how the group thinks that he has made the wrong choices in life and he's going to hell. (and it hurts to know that you belong here) and in the music video it gives you several shots with the revs drums and no one is playing them.

At least thats what i think

It is about Jimmy, their ex drummer, dying and being sent to hell for what he has done. You can obviously tell it's about him because in the video you see his old drum kit when a patient at the mental ward is forced there.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

to the anon's who say the song is about The Rev it is not. The Rev was alive when the song was written which is evident because if you pre-ordered the special addition "Book Of Nightmares" edition of the album you got a demo version of Nightmare that had Jimmy playing the drums. the video however is a bit of a dedication to Jimmy. those who are saying that the song is about the end of the world and the whole christianity thingy i believe that is what the song is about but its also about society and society's expectations of us

I think in this song, Matt (The singer) is Death, or the Grim Reaper, and he is bringing a person to hell, because he is evil or something.

Yes "Nightmare" was written before Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan died, he wrote it. It was dedicated to the death of The Rev.

The REV did not die because of natural causes he died due to a drug overdose. He was not playing the drums in "Nightmare" either, it was his favorite drummer Mike Portnoy, who played for Avenged Sevenfold only temporarily. The REV's last song played was "Scream".

It is about hell and Christianity but i think its mainly to do with the mental health of one's brain and the way the doctors "medicate your brain" and how them pills are meant to "tell you how you feel". From reading one of the other comments i can see that "the rev" can be linked maybe through medication but this song depends on what ever you want to make of it :) love this song makes me feel better about my schizophrenia x

Right, this song isn't written for the REV because as everyone is saying he wrote it.
    But some facts are wrong
    - them who say he died from natural causes, he didn't. He was on medication and died because he had a few pints of alcohol and it reacted with the medication. Was an accident and no one knew the alcohol would effect him.
    - also he doesn't play the drums in this song, he made a demo version and if you here that on youtube you can tell this is not the REV. But he did write it.

    R.I.P The REV. foREVer <33
    Love Avenged Sevenfold

it is NOT about jimmy because if anyone payed attention or was real fans of avenged sevenfold they would know that jimmy wrote this song before he died. its like he was predicting his death because a week after he wrote it.. he died.

this song was written before the REV died because he's playling the drums in this song. if you listen to any songs that Mike Portnoy played on this album you can tell there's a big difference. the song is about going to hell and paying the price for not being a christian.

The song is not about the end of the world. The song is in memory of the drummer for the band Jimmy "the rev" Sullivan. He died at the age of 28 of natural causes. You can tell this song is about that if you watch the music video. At the end of the video it shows the revs drum set with no one playing them.

The song has got people wondering. If you look at the lyrics, its obviously about the end of the world and the consequences of not being a christian. So stand in line while they ink numbers in your head
You're now a slave until the end of time here

    You should have known
    The price of evil
And it hurts to know that you belong here
    Yeah
    Oooooooh
    It's your f*****g nightmare
While your nightmare comes to life

Die (Die! ), die again (die! )
    Drenched in sin (sin! )

If you look I the book of Revelation, it says basically all of the lyrics I posted and some more. So what is it about? it's about the end of the world.
