Black Veil Brides: Knives and Pens Meaning
Song Released: 2010
Knives and Pens Lyrics
And I've lost all faith in this blurring light,
But, stay right here we can change our plight.
We're storming through this despite what's right.
One final fight, for this tonight...
Woah...
With knives...
-
There is a different meaning in this song for everyone. I think that this song is just telling you to hold on, and never to give in, even when you are going through a tough time, or you will loose the game, which is life(Lyrics: and i cant go on without your love, YOU LOST, YOU NEVER HELD ON), because you are just a pawn in the game of life. Whenever you give up, you have made a plight (or predicament) for yourself, and in this particular song, the plight has been made by knives and pens, although they can be made by anything, and by anyone, so everybody can relate. I know my plight has been made by knives, scissors, and sins.

its about andy being a little kid and he was bullied when he was young and he had to choose pens or knives and he choose pens because knives are not the solution it just reminds you what bad happen and it leaves a scare behind and the pens are better because you take all your anger out with a piece of paper. and andy6 luv the forever and this song2

One final fight,
For this tonight-
(I believe what theyre saying is that theyre fighting for what they believe in, but they want to stop, hence *final* fight.)
Whoa...
With knives and pens we made our plight-
(The are trying to make a difene with knives and pens, or their self-distructive acts[knives]or their words[pens].)
Whoa...
I cant hold on without your love, you lost, you never held on-
(He is trying hard not to give in, despite that everone else is)
We tried our best,
Turn out the light
(They have tried so hard to fight back, ''turning out the light' is just their way of saying that this fighting is getting us nowhere, and they wish they ould just stop.)
Turn out the light! -
It's about the three teenage boys arrested and imprisoned in Memphis for triple murder basically because they looked and dressed differently from other people, eg listened to Metallica and Slayer. One of them had learning difficulties. The quote at the beginning of this video is taken from the court case; it was said one of the boys was the leader of a cult which would "wear black fingernails, paint their hair black, wear black t-shirts. Sometimes they would even tattoo themselves."
-
I believe that it's about standing up for yourself. I've tried knives and pens, and it depends on my mood which one I choose. I've met someone I love dearly and he got me to pick up writing my heart out. And I've almost run out of ideas. It sucks.
-
I think that the song "Knives and Pens" it means like away of describin someone, and the way they feel. Like it's letting you know that there's always going to be problems out there, and things that will make you want to think wrong about yourself. And it also talks about conscience. "Conscience begs you to do what's right, stab it on and justify whats mine or yours".. Understand?? :3

Alone at last we can sit and fight (possibly pointing out the fact that people feeling sorry for themselves are sitting rather than fighting for what they believe in. It's a contradiction. "Well we want people to accept us and we want to fight but we're not gonna get up" Sitting and fighting.)
And I've lost all faith in this blurring light (I'm convinced they wrote this only because it rhymes with fight.)
Stay right here and we can change our plight (Instead of knives, write!)
Storming through this despite what's right! (try putting quotation marks around right and the meaning becomes clearer. As in, "what you think is right, we're gonna challenge! We're gonna express ourselves and go against whats right to all you people making fun of us) One final fight for this tonight (getting exhausted from trying to prove something that shouldn't have to be proven.) You get the point. Just apply that view to all the other lines. -
It means that cutting is not the answer and writing is the way to go.
