This song is, in my opinion, about how people are blindly following a faith without deviating from that course simply because of an attachment to it. Though they may not fully believe such ideas expressed in the religion, group or whatever else, he's saying you're better off subscribing to something that you really believe in rather than following the crowd and the Stolen Omen.
Particularly, I think of the Lord's Prayer. It has no meaning behind it; it doesn't come from the heart. Rather than put your faith into this "Stolen Prayer" or "Omen" of sorts, put your faith into something raw and true to yourself.
