Blink-182: Down Meaning
Song Released: 2004
Down Lyrics
This awkward silence makes me crazy
The glow inside burns light upon her
I'll try to kiss you if you let me
(this can't be the end)
Tidal waves they rip right through me
Tears from eyes worn cold and...

#1 top rated interpretation:I think this song was written shallowly thanx to his interptretation of the song in his album. It makes it seem like he just made up the lyrics in less than an hour, and it is really obvious.
he states, in blink 182's LAST album that: "the lyrics I wrote in 'down' are about a picture I had in my head of a boy and a girl inside of a car while its raining outside. So I pictured over and over the rain falling onto the windshield while this guy is saying and thinking things about wanting to kiss her and make her stay." -
The car thing is correct, but not fully. It's about a girl and guy sitting in a car and how all these thoughts and emotions are running through the guy's head about how he wants to kiss her, how he doesn't know what to say, and how much he likes her

this song's about a guy who reely likes a girl but she has no interest in him. This awkward silence makes me crazy : he reely wants to talk to her but she's not putting in any effort in responding
then when it goes you did this : the girl made him obsessed over her and he can't stop liking her -
That last 'Car' interpretation hits the spot in my mind...It's funny I always imagined that's what this song being about anyway because of a situation with my ex we were sitting in my car while it was raining, and we had just broken up recently and we had both fucked up but I wanted back in and had to sit there and stare at the look in her eyes. All of my emotions were going crazy and all I wanted in the world was to kiss her... and we ended up back together that night so this song has always meant that to me...it's a shame they made a stupid video for it...they had a lot of potential with this one.

You're both really wrong. It's about first love.. well, first obsession really. being really young and not knowing what to do with everything that you're feeling. Think John Cusack in Say Anything, or John Cusack in High Fidelity. So much desire and so many feelings and no idea what to do with any of them. It gets the guy down that he can't express what he wants to, but he's trying to tell her... That he'll do what she wants, as long as she loves him back.
-
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

I think this song is abouta guy loving a girl but she doesn't love him back and it causes him to be " down " he dreams of her during the day and he only wants to be with her but it almost kills him every time he has to acsept she doesn't love him
