Breaking Benjamin: Bury Me Alive Meaning
Bury Me Alive Lyrics
-
I keep falling out of line (He keeps losing to his addiction)
I was drained and left behind (The woman he was addicted to drained him off all he had and pretty much forgot about him)
All will fade and petrify (It’ll all be in the past soon. The word Petrify means; to make (someone) so frightened that they are unable to move or think. I think he wants to hurt her because of the pain she’s caused him)
Feed the hate and start the lies (Feeding into the hate she has for him, he’ll hurt her. Start the lies could mean he’ll try to believe she loves him still)
Falling in between, I am caught beneath (Falling in between their love they had, he’s trapped in her love)
Light the way and let me go suffocate inside (He’s telling her to show him the way and to let him go because it probably is better that way. Meanwhile he’ll suffocate inside.)
I will break and watch you crawl (He knows he’ll eventually break because he can’t stay away from her. Their relationship is pure poison and will leave her crawling, drowning in emotions)
Bury me alive! (It’ll kill him to be with her but it kills him to not have her too)
I keep falling out of time (He keeps relapsing on times they spent together)
I was blamed and cauterized (Their story was one sided. He took all the blame, but she was to blame too)
All will change and calcify (With time, he’ll start to harden and not care)
Control! (He has to remind himself to maintain control with her. He screams this in the song, signifying he’s angry and losing it)
Lies inside, lies inside (She’s a liar and so is he. They both lie about how they feel about each other. He loves her. She left him. He wants her even if it’s kills him to be with her. Her feelings she denies. She doesn’t allow herself to feel for him, which is why she probably left him.)
My take on the song.
