Ed Sheeran: Photograph Meaning
Photograph Lyrics
Under the lamppost back on Sixth street
Hearing you whisper through the phone,
"Wait for me to come home."

My boyfriend is away at college and I only get to see him 2 days out of every week. That may change once I start working soon and it could only be 1 day. It's kind of rough for both of us because we're just so close and we've been so inseparable for the past 2 years. This song perfectly describes our relationship. I spend the week waiting for him to come home and I have a heart shaped locket that I wear everyday and it has a picture of him inside. For us, this song means that love is strong and so powerful and it will keep us together for a very long time.

This song is so beautifully written I don't think you an give it one reason. All of us will have our own opinions and our own stories to share

This song is about one being away from their significant other, but at the same time remembering childhood memories.

I believe the song is about how families can go through hard times. But helping each other get through it is what being a family means. It also talks about Ed's childhood and how happy he was growing up even though he went through some hard times. I really appreciate the song because i know lots of families can relate. That's my interpretation. ☺

My son is heading out to discover life and who he is. I'm happy for him! This town we live in holds many toxic memories for him. Perhaps he will come back to this area to live. He might not. I'm ok with whatever brings him an abundant life. I wonder if he would think of this song as our mother/son relationship. I'm thinking of writing down the lyrics and tucking them in his suitcase... Any pro's and/or thoughts might be helpful.

This song held so many meanings. Lovely...

This song reminds me of my teenage daughter who took her life. Guess because it points out that all we have is our soul, in the end.

I dedicated this song to my 14 year old nephew who committed suicide last November. Listening to Ed's song, helped me to find the words to say goodbye.
Wait for me to come home.. -
Everybody will have a different interpretation of this song. Some happy, some not so much. Recently a good friend of mine passed away. He was young and in his teens. This song was played at his funeral. This is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard and brings tears to my eyes whenever I hear it. This song represents all that family and love gives to each of us. A world without love, is it worth living in? This is the time to make memories that we can keep forever and look back on and smile. Especially since these memories and all the warm feelings friend and family love brings us, may be the only thing we take with us when we die. Love heals, and love hurts. However, you can't have rainbows without rain. I think this song is trying to tell us that we should appreciate each other every second of every day, no matter how tough things get and tell your loved ones how much they mean to you often. You never know when a day might be your last, live it filled with love and family.

actually.. if you read the lyrics.. it was like his mom or dad singing and saying those words.. for him.

This song means so much to me. I recently moved to Pennsylvania and I found it hard to say goodbye to my best friend/true love. I showed her this song, and I promised her that I would always keep her close to my heart and I asked her I she would me. It's just a really powerful song to me and I love it. Thank you so much for writing this, Ed!
