Ed Sheeran: Photograph Meaning
Photograph Lyrics
Under the lamppost back on Sixth street
Hearing you whisper through the phone,
"Wait for me to come home."

Well. I'm just a teenager who has been dating a boy for almost 8 months now and him and I are very young and we get that and we both feel that we don't want anyone else. We understand eachother perfectly and want no other no matter what God has planned for us. And he is moving to Florida and I live in New York and we are going to be long distance dating and are going to always have something of the other persons to remember them and to feel closer to the one you love and this song fit in perfectly because as he says " so won't you keep me inside the pocket of your ripaped jeans holding me closer till our eyes meet you won't ever be alone, wait for me to come home" if you keep something close to me in your arms untill the day we see again, it will be as if I was never gone... and this song is just very special to me personally because I felt all alone in the world and now I see how many people go through hard times like this.... and I am a 14 year old girl and he is 13... and I don't want anyone else and I just hope anyone else out their will end up like us and fight through the pain and be in live like we hope we will. :)

Today I dedicated this song to the love of my life. It depicts exactly how we both feel. About 3 months ago, he decided to become a Buddhist monk in Taiwan. He loves me very much but feels his calling is to go to a monastery and dedicated his life to ending the suffering of people. He has to learn Mandarin before he goes and he is but it will take him about a year and a half to understand and carry on a conversation. In the meantime, we are still very close. We deal with this on a daily basis. There's a lot of pain and suffering...a desire to understand how Destiny can do this to two beings who love each other so deeply...
So this song represents us, our fears, dreams and hope. Hope that our separation will not be permanent and that one day he will return home. It represents our desire to hang on to each other inside our pockets...It represents our commmmitment to live in the moment and make every moment we have memorable.
So today I dedicated this song to my guy, my love, and twin flame, and he dedicated it right back to me. It's our song. Amitofo. -
This song to me will always be for my friend Ben kanfiszer. It was played at his funeral and I listen to It all the time and think of him. I have always interpreted "we make these memories for ourselves where our eyes are never closing and hearts were never broken and times forever frozen still" this to me means when our hearts were never broken by Ben passing away and all of the photographs we have with him and off him, we will keep our love in them. Also " so you can keep me inside the pocket of your ripped jeans, holding me closer till our eyes meet, you won't ever be alone" we can keep Ben in photographs and our hearts and memory until we look eachover in the eye again. We will never be alone because Ben will always be with us. This song is for you Ben. I will forever love you. I miss you. Ben kanfiszer #benyouwillwalkwithmealways

Photograph reminds me of my mum and dad who were taken from me Aug 2014 (dad) and then mum tragically 6 months to the day of losing dad. Soul mates who couldn't be parted after 64 years together. This song Is the backing music for a collection of photographs I gave to makemeamovie.com who kindly made me a DVD of their life and my life with the which I never want to forget
-
Theinterpretation of this song is that keeping the picture of all the memeories of friends family and loved ones. That have passed away. Ad this song is them saying keep the photographs until I come home.
-
It's all about interpretation. It's obviously a love song, but it can also be about a non-romantic relationship. You don't have to be romantic to love someone, you love your friends and your family in a platonic way. To me, this is very relatable to a friendship where you either start drifting away, or you have a huge fight. I guess my point is that this song can relate to a bunch of different relationships, not just romantic.
-
The interpretation of this song to me is about a "lost love" or rekindling of a friendship or relationship that after many years or even just some time apart - could possibly be once again.
-
This song this to be about the girl of wake me up or little bird! The famous girl that inspired a lot of track from +. (if you listen wake me up and photographe there is a part where he talk about the necklace on this two track)
-
I feel like this song is basically about freezing a moment and keeping it forever, like a photograph. He says "We keep this love in a photograph. We made these memories for ourselves. Where our eyes are never closing, Hearts are never broken, And times are forever frozen still." So it's basically saying that no matter what happens, to keep that moment forever because in that specific moment in time, everything was good & happy. They hadn't gone through a heartbreak, they were happy, they were making memories, etc. The "photograph" represents a memory and he's saying to preserve it and keep it wherever you go.
-
I actually agree with this interpretation but when I hear this song, this is what comes to my mind:
It about a young couple where they have a fight("and if u hurt me, that's ok baby only words bleed)(loving can hurt sometimes) and the girl seems to be fed up with the guy and they don't break up but eventually stays away from each other and they are missing each other but don't know how how to fix it("so u keep me inside the pocket of ur ripped jeans...") and is they're only in each other's memories and photographs. So the guy is apologising and is expressing the fact that he needs her and loves her ("wait fo me to come home"). He hopes his love for her can mend their relationship again ("loving can mend our souls...")
This is only just one of the possible explanations for this song and this is based on my current relationship. All of these interpretations are right. No right or wrong. It just depends on what type of relationship you're facing. -
This song is about keeping me with you. I may not be there but you still have me in a photograph. Even if you dont have one of me I will still be yours. If I am away at war I am still in your heart, forever and always. Just dont lose memories of me and you will always have me.
-
this song will always remind me of someone who's dead. my grandma or some good friend...
i never really thought of it as a lovesong. every sentence sounds like someone dead is talking to me. it sounds as if my grandma for example talks to me and tells me, that she will always be here in this photograph that i'm holding in my hands.
for me it's a really sad song. it's not a broken relationsship, it's much more! it's death, that tore this people apart.
i love it so much. for me it's like wings from birdy. both songs remind me of a dear person that i lost. they're so sad, but still so beautiful.... -
For whatever reason one of the two lovers clearly parts with the other. The one going away asks the one staying at home to hold on to a photograph of a time when they were lovers
. He/she tells their partner staying at home that loving me will hurt because i will be away but our love is also what will heal you. He/she also tells their partner staying at home that even if you hurt me out of frustration by doing something it will not hurt me physically instead it will be your words and the emotional damage that will bleed forever. Finally He/she also says that I remember our parting moment of how you kissed me and that is my last memory of you. I love you and want you to wait for me to come home. At least that's my interpretation. -
It's a promise of keeping someone you love 'close' to you, in your mind, when you're apart. Keeping a photograph with you is a reminder that the memories and the person will always be with you anyway. I think it's a promise between both of them (both partners)
-
I agree with the long distance relationship one.
