Godsmack: Voodoo Meaning
Voodoo Lyrics
When I feel the snake bite enter my veins.
Never did I wanna be here again,
And I don't remember why I came.
Candles raise my desire,
Why I'm so far away.
No more meaning to my life,
No more reason to...

Not to be rude or anything but you're all wrong. If you go buy the c.d "Good Times, Bad Times...Ten Years Of Godsmack" it comes with a dvd and you will find out the real meaning of that song. It has to do with there former guitarist. It not my place to tell his story.
-
It is about heroin and Sully Erna has said in interviews that Layne Staley "was single-handedly, the guy that got me to start singing." The influence Alice In Chains has had on Godsmack is more than just a coincidence in the choice of names for the band. That's like saying, "Hey, we're Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, but that's got nothing to do with the Beatles."
-
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
-
Ummm, he said it was about the movie, "The Serpent and the Rainbow."
-
Read Sully's book. He did not ONCE do any drugs pertaining to needles and said he's very happy about that. This song is definitely not about heroin.
"I'm not the one who's so far away"
~He'll never get away from his home town~
"when I feel the snakebite enter my veins"
~The shit he dealt with in Lawrence MA~
"Never did I want to be here again"
~He wanted to leave but always ends up back there~
"And I don't remember why I came"
~No matter what, He will always be part of his home town, it's what built him and made him who he is today~ -
Voodoo is slang for heroine, the song is about heroine, the snakebite is the injection, the candles raise my desire is about the anticipation of cooking heroine, just another awesome song about drugs
-
Godsmack did NOT get their name form an alice in chains song. The cold sore story is true however that particular drummer, tony, is not with the band anymore.
-
This is one of those songs that the artist was forced to change because of the demands of their label. The original words were "I'm not the one who is so far away when I feel the 'needle' enter my veins." As you can probably tell, it is about heroin. Additionally, the band is named after an Alice in Chains song about a drug that is a bit divine. However, Godsmack themselves have tried to claim that it arouse from some situation one of the members had with a cold sore (herpes). Don't believe it, they are in fact named after the Alice in Chains song--and their is nothing wrong with that, other than they don't like to admit it.
