Harry Styles: Sign of the Times Meaning
Song Released: 2017
Sign of the Times Lyrics
It's a sign of the times
Welcome to the final show
Hope you're wearing your best clothes
You can't bribe the door on your way to the sky
You look pretty good down here
But you ain't really good
We never learn,...

I heard this song for the very first time in the early afternoon after my mothers funeral. The lyrics immediately grabbed me and I honestly felt my mother communicating with me telling me to dry my eyes and its all gonna be ok. I still listen to it at times when I need that reassurance.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

This isn't my interpretation, this is a friends of mine's, but when she heard the song, she thought it was about either Harry trying to escape Hollywood/the music industry, "We can meet again somewhere
Somewhere far away from here." Or it is about Harry explaining to the other 1D band member that they had to brake up for their band was a cildish creation, and they have to become mature. -
I think sign of the times is about war cause if you listen to the song he is saying why are we always running from the bullets we should open up . Then later on in the song he says we got to get away. Which he is referring that we got to get away from all bad but the song has a twist where it also means this will not be the last time we go through a rough time.

I personaly think the song is about someone who Harry has this feeling that the person knows him well and it's soo impossible for them to meet then... ‘We gonna meet someday somewhere, somewhere very far from here'... It technically means that Harry and that person out there a going to meet someday since they are in different kind of worlds.
-
As I have listened it only once, it gives me a feeling of more than what is happening in one family. Although preparing personally to the last catastrophe, we always think of our loved ones. So let's take care of our dearest people when it is possible now as living persons. Afterwards we do not know if we are in the same place. JV.

This song is really saying that we all are not perfect and the time is near and God has forgiven us and time is running out on earth and it's time for us to prepare for heaven where we will all meet and have no more pain and worries anymore, and not to cry, for Heaven is near!
-
I think it's about someone dying and going to heaven their telling their family and friends to live and enjoy life there isn't much time left on this earth don't cry they will see them again in heaven someday
-
It's about a mom that died during child birth and she is singing this to her kid.

The song itself, I felt, was very reflective of the broken society we’re living in today, and it also expressed how humanity continues to make the same mistakes. Through creating a motif of despair and hopelessness Styles made ‘Sign of the Times’ sound almost apocalyptic, making us think that the end is near if we continue this destructive path.
Meanwhile, I'm writing a reading response about this song for English and it's pissing me off :/ -
I feel like this song is about a girl that this boy isn't supposed to be with and rumors are made about her. But this boy sees the real her and he wants them to get away from these people who have hurt her.
