Marianas Trench: Good to You Meaning
Good to You Lyrics
And I can't find my breath, can we just say the rest with no sound?
And I know this isn't enough, I still don't measure up
I'm not prepared; sorry is never there when you need it
And I do want you...
-
In the first verse, Josh likes this girl but he is afraid to talk to her (everyone's around, no words are coming now). He loves her but he can't find the right words to say, and he just wants her to know how he feels ( and I can't find my breath, can we just say the rest with no sound?). He feels like he's not treating her the way she deserves because he never talks to her, and like he isn't good enough (and I know this isn't enough, I still don't measure up). And he's not ready to talk to her because he doesn't know how, and when he feels he should be there for her he isn't, so he feels bad (and I'm not prepared, sorry is never there when you need it).
In verse two it's from her perspective because Jessica Lee is singing. She likes him back, but she thinks that he doesn't care about her. Really it's because he's nervous about talking to her, but she doesn't know that. In her first line she says that she thinks she may have seen a sign that he likes her, like maybe she saw him looking at her or something ( I thought I saw a sign, somewhere between the lines). But she also thinks maybe it's just wishful thinking, and really he doesn't notice her at all (Maybe it's me, maybe I only see what I want). She then says "and I still have your letter". They aren't really on letter writing terms (yet!), so she probably means a Christmas card or birthday card, and she still keeps it because maybe it means he wrote it because he likes her. In the next line she says that it's a bit confusing because she doesn't know what he really thinks of her, of if she really knows him (just got caught between, someone I just invented, who I really am, and who I've become).
In the chorus both Josh and Jessica sing it, and they are saying that want the other person to know how much they love them, and they would be good for each other.
So yeah, awesome song, it has a great meaning about being in love -
I personally think it means that he would do anything for the girl. and inside she loves him to. she loves him but he doesnt know it and he loves her and she doesnt know it. I know its confusing but its called Love. I had my first slow dance to this song. I love him and i would be good to him but he is dating a girl who lied to my face.

I believe this song is about being in love with someone and wishing you could be with them, but you can't because they are with someone else.

He Would do anything for this girl. He knows that deep down she could be good for him and deep down she wants to be good for him. She just needs to take a chance on him. He would be so great for her and if he got the chance she would never regret it
