Melanie Martinez: Mad Hatter Meaning
Mad Hatter Lyrics
Skinny dip in rabbit holes for fun.
Poppin', poppin' balloons with guns.
Gettin' high off helium.
We paint white roses red.
Each shade from a different person's head.
This dream, dream is a killer,...

Well, after ALL of the sad/traumatic events that happened throughout Crybaby's life, she drives herself insane. She finally has found comfort in her own little wonderland world. She's free from all of the people that caused her pain and anger.
She expresses herself as insane. She's with all the other 'crazies' that make her feel normal.
While the normal people make her feel scared, so she should be secluded from normal people without mental illnesses.
She makes a lot of Alice in Wonderland references, which adds to the whole mental theme. In all, Crybaby has found a place where she can be psycho self. -
She finds people just as crazy and wierd as her and don't treat her differently like normal people do.She finds true FRIENDS!!!
-
I think it means that crybaby is struggling to find a way to cope with her past and present emotions. According to the song it states that she is "getting high off helium" which means she is struggling too cope with the pain, so she turned to getting high. I like this song very much my favorite line is "so what if I'm crazy the best people are." Overall this song relates to me a lot

Personally, in my opinion I think it's, (the song), is linked to Dollhouse. Her family is truly messed up and everyone thinks that there perfect, but in reality, they're the total opposite. Anyways, I think Mad Hatter is about how her family is sadly, messed up and she is trying to act perfect but then she realizes that she's different and needs people like her. (Different, not the same, unique)

This is based off Alice in Wonderland. As seen by the quotes "we paint white roses red" and "skinny dip in rabbit holes for fun" because alice fell into a rabbit hole. This is about Crybaby being crazy and having her own little wonderland
-
You can be Alice, I'll be the Mad Hatter...
-
Being crazy means being yourself. The normals are the people that are fake, not themselves. She finaly found some crazy friends and accepts her self.
-
Melanie is glamorizing mental illness.
-
Some of the songs make you think crybaby is crazy in this song she is actually exepting for who she is
-
It's about excepting that she is CRAZY
-
As someone with a mental illness, her lyrics seem like she's fantasizing mental illnesses.
-
It's is about CryBaby being crazy from her family and she is finally expressing it. She finally finds friends that are crazy with her. She is afraid of the normals because she doesn't fit in with them and they think she is weird.
-
I think that people think CryBaby is sick so don't hang out with her. It makes sense because she comes from a abusive family as you saw in dollhouse. So she finally fines people who are just like her. When she finally embraces her flaws she does fine friends. She feels insane like when she says the lyric" the crazies make me feel sane" stating she finally belongs somewhere better than her family she comes from.
-
Crybaby is finally excepting who she is. She doesn't care if people don't accept her she will just remember she is crazy, insane, and emotional. She was always afraid to tell people things but now she can step out of her comfort zone.
-
This song is about all the weird and crazy things crybaby sees and does. Her and her friends are all nuts and she feels unsafe around sane people example, "The normals they make me afraid, The crazies the make me feel sane." She is talking about not fitting in with normal and being terrified by them.
