Papercut Lyrics

Don't be sad, it's really not that bad for you
It's only just a little papercut or two
Don't be sad, you will be laughing someday soon
It's only just a little papercut or two
It's only just a little papercut...

You could get hit by a car...

I think this song is about trying to look at the positive side of things. Melanie is trying to explain in the song that yes, bad things happen but we need to try not to dwell on it too much. In my opinion, I think the song is mainly focusing on relationships that just didn’t work out and mels trying to say that there’s more fish in the sea and you will have another chance at love. This song can be used for any circumstance that is negative but ku need to try and look at the positives.

I always thought it was about depression and self harm. With possiblly not thinking her problems are bad bc others have it worse. Also the paper cut being self harm. Covering the cuts with a sweater and her thinking of things that have happened such as people dying and cheating.

This is meant to be about Crybaby trying to get over a relationship. She keeps telling herself it could be worse, but in one verse she gets tired of trying to see the silver lining. Also I think the line ‘Daddy could have a friend named Jack’ is Jack Daniels whiskey and saying he could’ve been alcoholic so be grateful for that, and ‘cover up your bruises with a sweater’ is like another one of her songs and referring to how she hides what is really happening.

About gaslighting yourself telling yourself your problems aren't that bad when in actuality it's getting worse and is bad and in the song they slowly realize that they need help
