Owl City: Butterfly Wings Meaning
Butterfly Wings Lyrics

It's cold so surround me
With rain clouds to keep me warm
I feel like I'm falling
So darling don't let me go
The thought is appalling but should I slip away
Into the stormy sea will you...

This song is about change... becoming a butterfly. Adam loves this girl, and knows they have to grow and change on their own, but he wants her to know that he will still love her in the end.

"If I was a raindrop, would you be my thunderstorm" The raindrop represents the boy while the thunderstorm represents the girl so this means he is saying, "Could you be my girl?". "We won't need feathers to fly" For us to go "up" we need to get down first or be in our knees and pray.
