Lonely Lullaby Lyrics

Symphony of silver tears,
Sing to me and sooth the ring in my ears,
Overcast these gloomy nights wear on,
But I'm holding fast because it's darkest just before the dawn.

I sang my princess fast asleep,
'Cause she was my dream come...

You know, I read Adam's blog, and we are a lot alike in some ways. During high school he was probably lonely and wishing that someone would be his princess. Then Annmarie came and he loved her more than anything. She was "a dream come true" and then she probably broke up with him (for reasons unknown). It must have taken a long time to get over her (if ever). I know I still think of past friends and crushes and wish that they would remember me and the times we spent together.

I think the part about he'd "rather dream" is just Adam being Adam. As he says in other songs, he's a dreamer, and honestly, who wouldn't rather dream than actually live in this bitter world?

At points it seems like he's talking about someone who died, but it mostly sounds like a lost love type of song. I think that maybe some of the lyrics came from the love of a different person. Annmarie is definitely an ex-girlfriend, but maybe she also reminded him of a girl he knew that died, so those other parts are slipped in there on accident. The human mind can do that.

This song is about his girlfriend named Annmarie who he loved very much (he used to sing to her, he "treasured" her) and she has died. He loved her so much it will be very difficult for him to move on, he will "never forget" her and he feels the world is "bitter" now that she's gone.

Think about it. Listen to the lyrics. What if this is a tribute to a father who lost a daughter?
"I sang my princess fast asleep... Believe me, I loved you."
I can see a father singing a lullaby to a daughter better than I can see a boyfriend singing to a girlfriend.
This is just my interpretation. I may be wrong. Because it could work either way.
And EITHER WAY it is a beautiful, haunting, sad song.

    SHE. DID. NOT. DIE.
she was his "high school sweetheart" and they were close. She left for college, they never spoke again. but, she came back. SHE DID NOT DIE.

I must agree, this song is most definitely about a girl, one who he has loved and lost. Personally I agree with the person who said she passed away. Mainly because he talks about how its a bitter world and he would rather dream. As if his love no longer lives on the earth but only in his dreams. This song is absolutely beautiful by any account though, one of my favorites.

I think Adam is talking about an old girlfriend, who he still sort of has feelings for, but they're broken up and everything.
And all the memories he has of her come to him on the middle of the night and he chokes on them.
He truly loved her and will never forget her: Annmarie.

I think its about a girl that he once loved and she died somehow. he's remebering the times when he used to sing her lullabies, but now she's gone and they are now "lonely lullabies".
this song is truly beautiful, and the meaning leaves you speechless(:
i prefer to think that this is what it means because it makes the song more meaningful and touching.
