Rammstein: Benzin Meaning
Song Released: 2005
Benzin Lyrics
kein Alkohol, kein Nikotin
Brauch keine Hilfe, kein Koffein
doch Dynamit und Terpentin
Ich brauche Öl für Gasolin
explosiv wie Kerosin
mit viel Oktan und frei von Blei
einen Kraftstoff wie Benzin
Brauch...
-
great interpretation.
One more remark i would add is that they another title which heavily critizise Amerika - named Amerika.
Greets from Germany -
I see this song as a bootleg for the song "Amerika".
I believe that this song, and especially the video has something to do with the american government behavior, politics and trade:
"Es fließt durch meine Venen
Es schläft in meinen Tränen
Es läuft mir aus den Ohren
Herz und Nieren sind Motoren"
This might indicates that the american government only is about making money and developing technology of Petrol.
"Herz und Nieren sind motoren" - Might be a connection to the military might of America. The heart and nerves are machines not a human mind. (The brutal wars lead by the Americans. Ex. Iraq and Vietnam)
"Brauch weder Arzt noch Medizin"
This line goes to the american healthy system which isn't getting any better (People have to pay for having a surgery and those, who can't afford is let do die on the street) and forgot because they focusing on the technology and rueling the world.
The video "Benzin" (Numbers are references, explained in the bottom.)
1. In the first scene a fireman squad is waking up after a long time with no action. They are getting ready to do their job and put on their uniforms(1.1)The gate opens and the big firetruck is ready to go(1.2)
2. The truck is driving out on the highway and destroy everything they pass on their way: Trees, Houses, fields and other Cars(2.1), without doubts according to their facial expressions(2.2)
3. When they finally reach their objective spot it isn't going well. A man is about to commit suicide by jumping from a high bulding. The fireman squad tries to safe him but fails when the safeblanket cracks. (3)
(1): Americas rearmament to the second world war in Europe - The unemployed (Lazy and suprised firemens) are going to work again(1.1)( America had a huge financial crisis back then). A large army prepared going to war (1.2)
(2): Fighting a war usally ends up destroying everything after loads of bombs and tanksbattles (2.1) Because it isn't their own land they don't care about destroying and make everything look like hell.(2.2)
(3):The americans had made a lot of accomplished missions, but also a lot of failed. An example is the attempt to introduce democracy in Afghanistan and Iraq. Maybe democracy on the outside, but whith a lot of corruption supposedly. For me illustrated by the crack of the safeblanket.
This is my oppinion of the song and the video according to the trails in both. But also because it's written at the same time as "Amerika", which also concern about the american behavior - not unfriendly but teasingly. Pure Rammstein style!
