   This song is about all people seeking publicity: politics, pop starts, controversial people, reality shows winners.
   Because of the "control of every heartstroke", I deduce, it's also a song about lust of power, totalitarianism, populism.
   The verses which end: "Do you see me?/Can you hear me?/Can you feel me? I don't understand you" make it simple - the people mentioned before care really only about themselves, and do not understand others. The politics only wants to rule, not to satisfy real needs of society.

   It's about how the media makes criminals into anti-heroes by focusing so much attention on them to get more viewers, essentially making those criminals incredibly famous.

   I would say this song is criticism about propaganda and how "bigger brasks" control normal citizen. As they say, "I want to control every heartbeat" they mean that leaders just want to say what normal living people should do, and that way benefit leaders.

   It seems like they are trying to say, that once they are done, they want to be remembered. Wir wollen in Beifall untergehen, meaning:We want to go down regarding applause.
   Instead of selling out, being remembered for how awesomely great they were!

   I would guess that this song is about doing something that will be remembered. "Ich will jeden herzschlag kontrollieren/I want to control every heartbeat" mey mean keeping a crowd or audience in suspense, keeping them waiting with bated breath for your next move.
