Skillet: Believe Meaning
Believe Lyrics
I'm still trying to figure out how to tell you I was wrong
I can't fill the emptiness inside since you've been gone
So is it you or is it me?
I know I said things that I didn't mean
But you should've known me by now
You should've known...

This song helped me when I got into an argument with my best friends. We were arguing and hating on each other with very mean words and this song helped a lot, even though it is a song about a breakup.
-
I have a feeling it's a mix between a 'breakup' song and one about coming back to God,after going off course, but coming back to God. It could also be about a breakup and regretting the breakup.
-
He's telling her he's sorry for the things he said, but at the same time, she should have known that he was just angry, and that she should have known he didn't mean any of it. . . if she truly knew and understood him.

It's about a person who abandoned god to go by their own path and then they realized they were wrong and want forgivness. Skillet is a Christian band so their songs might sound like break up songs but deep down somewhere in that song is a Christian meaning and that's what i strive to look for.
-
I haven't heard what the band has actually said about the song, but I wouldn't jump to saying it's about a breakup. I know at least one of their songs that I thought was about a break up ("It's Not Me It's You") was actually about not allowing "the world" to influence you. Skillet is a Christian alt rock band, and they often have songs with a Christian meaning, but present them in a way that is accessible to non-Christians, so they can come across as a little bit of a two-ply meaning sometimes.
Just throwin' that out there :) -
someone who believed in god, they abandoned their beliefs, and realised they were wrong in that decision, the whole song is about how they were wrong in abandoning their beliefs, how they need god in their life, and how they hope that he can get back to the way things were. btw guys, skillet is a christian band, you pretty much need to be a christian to understand the christian side of their songs.

John Dedicated this song to his wife Korey Cooper. I thought that Dedication was sweet and adorable. So people thought it was about his wife
-
John actually said at one of his concerts that it was about his wife
-
This song is about a breakup. The man realizes that he needs to have her back and he will do anything. She left because of things that he said. The man (narrator) is saying that he regrets the things he said, and he obviously doesn't mean it, they were said out of anger. If the woman had believed him that his life would be better without her, than maybe it just wasn't meant to be because she doesn't know him or what he wants.
-
its clear its about a break up, and the guy told the girl he didnt want her, and would do better without her, and he's regretting his decision to some extent, but in the line 'you never really knew me at all' is him realising that maybe they weren't the best for each other, if his girlfriend thought he was like that and that was true. at the end of the chorus and Verse 2, he goes on to say how she's the only one he wants and that although he cant take back what he said, he wished that he hadn't said it.
