Song Released: 2007
Comatose Lyrics
I'm so tired of trying to fight this
I'm asleep and all I dream of
Is waking to you
Tell me that you will listen
Your touch is what I'm missing
And the more I hide I realize
I'm slowly losing...

#2 top rated interpretation:This song is not about a girl or drugs! This song is about a person who has been denying God. He is at a all time low in his life. He is in a spiritual coma. He decides that he does not want to live without God anymore. He says, "The more I hide I realize I'm slowly losing you", this is a dead give-away that he wants to be back with God.

#3 top rated interpretation:I think it means that he wants a stronger connection with God but satan is trying to tempt him away and he's trying to fight satan.

I think this song is about a breakup and in the result of that, (the character) has turned to drugs and suicidal thoughts/actions.
I do also think it depends on the listener to determine the story in this song. Music is a personal experience, and therefore should be interpreted in such a way by the individual. -
Not everyone takes this song religiously. Not spiritual. I take it as a love of a woman. It's different for everyone. Including the Bible thumpers who think everyones wrong.
-
For me this song is whatever you feel like you want to put it. For me is for the love of a girl

Well, I've read the lyrics over and over and over and I've also listened to this song so many times and I've read all the comments and interpretations already made and I've also listened to a countless number of interviews with the band itself. I can honestly say this is, by far, my favorite song by skillet, and one of my favorite songs in general. And I HATE to seem like that one person that's all proper and wants to seem all on top of things but all I'm saying is that I think this song is what you make it. Most people think it's about love, drugs, or the love, trust, faith or something to do with God/religion. But in all honesty I think this song is whatever you make it be, the people who are looking for love, or people who are in love with someone(or think they are) are gonna see it as a love song, the people struggling with drugs and drug use is most likely gonna see it as a song about drugs and the people that have a strong faith/religion or is looking for a stronger faith/religion is gonna see it as something about faith/religion. and I also think this is a personal preference and personal experience type of thing. and, yes, they most likely made it about one specific thing, but oh well, almost everyone is gonna have different viewpoints for different reasons......But I hope everyone likes this song and I hope that is has a meaning or helps everyone in one way or another

Well i see how dome people think its about God or a love story due to some parts like i hate feeling like this im so tired of tryin to fight this im asleep and all i dream of is esking to you that part could be easly thought as love though another part like tell me you will listen your touch is more im missing could be thought ad a prayer to God but other people days is about depression war and other stuff in the end i think its mix of all the things
-
I think its a good song but please when you use God's name please use it with a G instead of a lower case g because it seems like when ppl use his name with a g its like their saying that God is like the other gods but there is only one God. Thanks for reading this.
-
I think it might be sort of like a story, for example, person A loves person B but doesn't want to accept it, even if he realizes that its almost too late to tell B, A is depressed and some parts represent his way of thinking, A might not be denying and can be afraid to hurt B instead
-
it is more about how we fight a war everyday and how he is ready to leave and go up to be with GOd, yes in fact it does seem like a love song for a girl or a guy but in fact its about love for god and the challenges we fight everyday like teen sucicde, killings, rapes, kidnapping, etc. etc.
-
John cooper explained in an interview: Comatose means Karma and in this song, we are waking up and relizing that there is a lot wrong stuff like war, depression, teen suicide rated are going up.

NO NO NO! Sorry, but this song is about:
Drugs. And this is about a man who is about to go into (Or is in) A drug-induced coma. He used to not care about God & Jesus, but he realizes how loving he is and how much he needs him, and he just wants God to end all his suffering so he can live with the Father Almighty, in peace and love.
The chorus: "I don't wanna live, I don't wanna breath,"
He wants to die and go to heaven to be with god.
"You take the pain I feel" He loves him, and God makes him care less and less about drugs.
"I'll never wake up without an overdose of you" THAT is a big pointer. He'll never wake up? THE COMA! XD and OVERDOSE? He overdosed on drugs, now he wants an overdose of Gods love!
By the end of the song, all he wants is the Father. He wants the Father to end his horrible life, because the man wrecked his body and his faith.
Beautiful song. Beautiful. -
Yes I agree it dose sounds like a typical love song yet the "my demons lay in waiting" sorta push me more to (along with countless interviews an things I have seen of the band) to believe that is probably not the case as to why they wrote it..It seems that it has a deeper Faith in Jesus type meaning.
-
Yes it is his relationship with our God
-
This song is mainly about love.
"I'm so tired of trying to fight this" he is saying he is tired of fighting the urge to try and not love this girl he has fallen in love with. "i'll never wake up without an overdose of you" this lines interpretation is saying that he'll never wake up without not thinking about her and how he is so in love with her he is paralyzed by herself.
"I hate living without you" I don't understand, did she leave him or something??? "dead wrong to ever doubt you" if he is saying how much he loves her why is he doubting her??? "but my demons lay in waiting" I analyzed that the demons are his mind and conscious is just waiting for him to mess things up with this girl and waiting to make him feel terrible for doing the wrong thing. "oh how I adore you, oh how I thirst for you, oh how I need you" he's saying that he's so in deep for her that all he wants is her to make him feel okay.
"I don't wanna sleep, I don't wanna dream" she helps him be him self and see all the good things in him and that he does. "breathing life waking up my eyes open up" he wakes up and realizes that he's truly in love and he can't let her go.
the main theme of this song is about how he fell in love with a girl and now it's impossible for him to let her go. It feels like he's in a coma of love, and it hurts so much to think of all the things that can go wrong. and he loves this girl with everything he has. He never wants to let her go or to be without her, because without her..he feels like nothing. He doesn't want to fight love because maybe it's fate and maybe it's meant to be. He hates the thought of losing something that means so much to him (her) also how he should have never doubted the love she felt for him. His mind is waiting for him to screw up and then make him feel bad like it's all his fault. every ounce of paing he feels she takes away with the love she gives and shows him. That he doubted her love because he didn't want to get hurt. but she still loved him. and he never wanted her to stop loving him because being in pain and in love is better then being in pain with no love
