Sleeping with Sirens: November Meaning
November Lyrics
Like no matter what the reason is the seasons never change
I think of all the time I spend
Drifting far away and zoning out as I'm clocking in
Tell my loved ones that I wish them well
There's a fire in this...
-
I think 'November' is about a person who committed suicide and is watching his family scatter his ashes and set him free, from a life of depression.
'Every Day is all the same, Like no matter what the reason is, the seasons never change.' Strongly suggests to me that this person is battling with depression.
'As the ashes learn to fly
This will be my holiday,
No more living with my fears
'Cause I gave them all away.'
The fact the ashes 'learn to fly' suggests that the person has been cremated, and the past tense 'gave' suggests the person is already dead.
Throughout the song, the singer talks about 'This town' and 'burning up'. This is another one that strongly suggests cremation. It's like the 'burning up' is the cremation, and afterwords his family plan on scattering them in a town. Perhaps the one he lived in before he became depressed, where he holds his dearest memories.
'They'll remember me tonight, in this town.' Suggests to me that he wants his family to remember him in the town that he was happy in.
'Tell my loved ones that I wish them well.' Tells me he never got a chance to say goodbye, which makes me think that the supposed suicide could've been a sudden decision at the time, but one he had pondered over for quite some time beforehand.
Throughout the song, I've noticed what seem to be elements of regret. -
He's burning down a town. Not literally, like he's destroying something big.?
