The Neighbourhood: Stargazing Meaning
Song Released: 2021
Stargazing Lyrics
If I start, I just can't stop
All the patience that I've got
It's not enough to save me
It's a race against the clock
But we don't wanna watch
Keep runnin' 'til we're lost
You got me thinkin'
Pull it out of park, put...
-
Just a guess. But it sounds like he's out with someone who is trying to figure things out as much as him when he said "underneath the stars, lookin' for a sign" and he knows he will not see this person again and is enjoying the company for the time being when he says "it's a race against the watch." a race has an ending. "but we don't wanna watch" they know time is limited but they're enjoying the moment until the day ends for them at sunrise. Sounds like they're parked somewhere they can see the stars. He makes a move and now they're breathing hard and fogging up the windows. I think 'Pull it out of park, put it in drive' is an analogy not referring to the car at all, parking could mean being still and not making a move. Put it in drive which can mean he accelerated = move forward with making a move. Made it pretty far on the first try meant this was probably a first date occasion. We usually take our time when we date people but already on the first date having sex while under the stars is putting the bar way too high. It was so exciting it burned the relationship and now hanging out doesn't feel exciting because you already went over too over the top.
Been there, done that. -
I think that it is about a first date when he says "started with the spark now we are on fire" and "Made it pretty far on the first try", also the person with him is a escape from all the rest of the world, a moment where he just want to relax and enjoy with his significant other.
