Three Days Grace: Animal I Have Become Meaning
Song Released: 2006
Animal I Have Become Lyrics
So many times i've tried
But i'm still caged inside
Somebody get me through this nightmare
I can't control myself
So what if you can see the darkest side of me?
No one will ever change this animal I have...

To me this is about a guy who was infected with some type of blood from probably something like godzilla but smaller. And now the blood is mutating his DNA and he's turning into the creature. It's sort of like the werewolf thing except it randomly happens, but it only happens at night on different days. He has friends and he doesn't want them to know, he can feel the transformation start, so when it starts he makes up a lie that he has to somewhere so he can get away from them. The friends get suspicious, so four of them stop him from leaving his house and start to question him. The others are away and learn whats wrong and try get to them before he transforms. A sudden bolt of anger makes the guy smash the door and he escapes, the four friends follow. They find him and this were the song comes in, they witness him transform and the "Somebody get me through this nightmare" parts are him begging for help, and the "So what if you can see the darkest side of me?" parts are the creature telling them that they can't stop him (the creature) and that he has already won. The guy isn't sing this, it's playing in the background. The song closes and we see the creature for the first time as he stands in front of the friends.

I think this song could be about any mental problems and addictions.. For me it is about an eating disorder because I have one..

A person, like any other, on the surface. Since growing up, he has dealt with life's trials, and fallen upon hard times. He turns to drugs and/or alcohol abuse to help, but it does not work. His pain, and suffering, cause him to harbor a deep, powerful rage, which has been suppressed until now, finally, in a moment of weakness. He snaps, lashing out at the world, and embracing a side of him, the "Dark" side, which causes disaster. In the aftermath of this mental transformation, he is left standing, amongst the ruins of his doing, wondering who the real him is, lost in a senseless loop of hopeless despair, and animalistic rage. He strolls angrily through life, a side of him clinging to hope, another, wrought with vengeful thoughts. He tries to reach out to gain help, by addressing a specific person, but fails, and lapses into a helpless state of disrepair.

this song may indeed be about the writer and his problems with drugs, but for me it means something else entirely. i was having a lot of problems, and it changed me. i become really short with my friends, and i snapped at people and was generally not a very nice person. this song really described to me what was going on, and even made me realize it and helped me fix myself. this song reminds me of the metamorphisis by franz kafka.

This song seems as though it is about someoe who has changed. He is also dealing with the influence of drugs or alcohol. He doesn't like what he has become and wants to escape it. He sees himself as a monster or an animal. He cries put for help, for someone to tame him.

This video/song is about an individual who has long tried to hide his true emotions, his anger, and desire for revenge against all those who have done him wrong. Finally, he snaps, and becomes the side of himself he never let others see. Caught in a mix of his rage and concern, he doesn't know who is the real him: the one he pretended to be for all those years, or the animal he has now become...
