Afterlife Lyrics

Like walking into a dream, so unlike what you've seen
So unsure but it seems, cause weve been waiting for you
Fallen into this place, just giving you a small taste
Of your afterlife here so stay, you'll be back here soon anyway

I'd say it's a break-up song, but he just had to put all his Grim Reaper crap in it.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

The first two answers are wrong. Sorry. It's not about him being in hell. It was written by Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan. He wrote it about his accidental overdose.

I always thought the song was about a man who proposed to his girl too early. It might be wrong but "I don't belong here got to move on dear" and "arrived too early" make me think that.

In my opinion this song is about this guy who had a dream of himself in heaven and realizes that he and heaven don't really match cause the things he did on earth r not really heavenly but then again realizes that the things hes seeing now is the opposite of what is gonna happen to him in real life , that this is a wake up cal 4 him to change his life and follow the righteous road so now hes asking god 4 a 2nd chance

my intepretation on this song is a person died too early in life so he describes his afterlife but he still feels he needs to finish or complete or do something with his life.so he begs a deity to return to earth and do what he has to do

This guy died abruptly okay? He is in Heaven, but he's not ready, even though it's his destiny (we've been waiting for you). He still has things to do in life, and he wants back into the world of living.

Zacky V.: ''It's about someone who has died and comes in the Afterlife but then realises that he has many things left to do in his 'real' life, (''Escape from this Afterlife...'')'' (not litteraly quoted but it's close.)

I think this song is about a guy who, let's say has a heart attack (for sake of argument) and his heart stops, so he's tecnicaly dead, so as he's going up to heaven, he's looking back on his body and on his life and all the things he never had the time to do, like get married and have kids, so when he gets to the "gates" of heven, he begs god to let him go back, to let him finish his life, and return to earth. I don't know if his wish was granted, but I would hope it was. ;)

In my opinion it's about someone dying, he goes to his afterlife and wants to get back because of he's missing in life.

I believe that synyster gates had an near death experience and he caught a glipmse of heaven. but he does not think that it is yet his time. "i don't belong here". But when it is his time to go, he would like for god to take im back inside the gates of heaven.

Okay, personally I think that the song is telling a story of a guy who's been trapped in the Afterlife, but he obviously doesn't want to be there, hence the chorus 'I don't belong here we've gotta move on, escape from this afterlife.' The part of the song that clarifies it for me is the end of the bridge where the rev sings, 'I need another chance to live.'
I don't think that this song has direct means of being relevant but it tells a very good story line and is portrayed in an extremely catchy fasion.

We already know that the song is about a guy who ralizes that he hasn't been a good person in his life, and he has business with his friends and loved ones that is unfinished. What I think is that he had an epiphany shortly before his death, and arrived where he is describing in the song immediately after. It is quiet, serene, and peaceful, as if nothing was ever wrong. Yet he describes this place as his hell, and he wants to leave as soon as possible to make his life right before he leaves. Why would he want to leave a place so perfect? Because he knows he can't live there knowing that he can't make himself right, and that knowledge is making him go insane. He can't live here seeing the serenity because it reminds him of where he came from. Therefore, this place is his own personal hell. He pleads with his god, who may or may not be there to hear him, to send him back so he can make himself a better person and fix the problems he has caused in his own life.

Okay, first off this is my interpretation based on my point of view. Dont criticize.

Afterlife has a fairly complex storyline and could mean many different things. My thoughts on the lyrical meaning of this song are about a man, who gets a glimpse of his afterlife. The first verse of this song takes place in hell, and a ghost or demon is speaking to this man and telling him how different this is and when he says " Fallen into this place, just giving you a small taste of your afterlife here so stay you'll be back here soon anyway. " he's referring to the fact that there's no point in leaving here because your going to be back later. " I see a distant light" which is heaven. next he is asking how did this happen? My time has come to early. In the pre chorus he is realizing out of all the places he doesn't belong its here and he wants a second chance.
The chorus explains that he wants another chance to return to earth to make amens with the people that he loves and he has to escape from his afterlife in order to do so.

The next verse is the complete opposite. It is about him seeing heaven. " A place with hope and no pain, perfect skies with no rain". Next he remembers how its like in hell so he doesn't want to go back. " So out of place don't want to stay", This means he doesn't deserve this for he has sinned. So he again begs for mercy so he can return from his afterlife. In the bridge he talks about everyone missing him and he needs another chance to live.

And that's it! The moral is to do good things in life be a better person before fate takes its toll before you wind upo begging for mercy. Its all carma. Being good pays of in one way or another.
