Afterlife Lyrics
So unsure but it seems, cause weve been waiting for you
Fallen into this place, just giving you a small taste
Of your afterlife here so stay, you'll be back here soon anyway

Stupid. I watched a clip of them explaining this song and it's about someone dying and not being finished with everything on earth. So they are trying to get out of heaven to go back to earth

Ok people - to my opinion - you all got parts of it but u guys aint quite theree (im only adding details)
So the story is about a guy who gets tested: he is put into the Afterlife (neither heaven nor hell; just afterlife, the place u go when u just died, and when u can look back over your life)
so he looks back over his life and sees that he's has done bAd things, but mostly he has left things undone, so he is begging to return to complete these things.
There it is.
Wayne Isham (director from the music video) told it himself.
But still, good guesses guys. -
The first verse of this song is about the absolute intensity of dying. Of realising that you're dead and having to deal with the reality of that situation. Think of that part of the song as the waiting room for heaven, and then one sees a distant light(heaven). Then the narrator realises where he is and decides that he is going to try and convince God to let him go back to his life. The song is about the closure that a person seeks with his or her life before they die. And don't get me wrong, he wants to come back, but he feels like he is just not ready. And you know it sounds like God was pretty cool with that.
