Sail Lyrics

SAIL!

This is how i show my love
Made it in my mind because
Blame it on my ADD baby

This is how an angel dies
Blame it on my own sick pride
Blame it on my ADD baby

SAIL!
SAIL!
SAIL!
SAIL!
SAIL!

Maybe i should cry for help...

I think the aliens in the video are just human beings, which are just as alien to the speaker. He is an individual who has difficulty relating to the behaviors of other people ("THIS is how I show MY love, I made it in MY mind..."), though not for lack of trying. It's just his own behavior that nobody else quite gets. And, feeling like it would all be a hopeless cause to explain, he simply says "Blame it on my ADD." The death of an angel is, obviously not a literal angel, but a source of salvation in his own life. Perhaps a woman, perhaps a mentor? However, just when he feels his salvation is at hand and he has found his place as another human being, he manages to mess it up again ("I blame it on my own surprise"). The frustration culminates into total chaos and confusion ("Maybe I should cry for help? Maybe I should kill myself?") before he realizes that his place as another human being is this person that he is ("Maybe I'm a different breed?"). Why he is like this, even he can't tell ("Maybe I'm not listening?" I.e.: Perhaps I'm too stubborn to be anything else?), but by the end, he no longer uses "Blame it on my ADD" as a means of escape, but as a way to laugh at himself and find peace. The tone of the second half of the second stanza is lighter than the first, I feel, and I think it represents a sense of coming to terms with the self. By the end of the video, he is abducted by the aliens, but maybe it isn't so bad as all that. He leaves his recorder, full of his earlier self-deprecating thoughts, behind, and is taken by the "aliens" (Which are actually just other people). He becomes one of them through his own self-actualization. "Sail," I think, is the sensation of continuously moving forward in the turmoil that is life, like a boat adrift in a roiling ocean. He is the boat, and, despite the chaos inherent in being himself, he won't capsize (Or kill himself, more literally), and understands that he must move on, no matter what he has faced.

I personally think that every one has there own interpretation of this song, i know that no one is going to have the exact same thoughts on this because no one has the exact same thoughts on anything. To me this song symbolises the triumph he has to face in every day life battling ADD. In the song he talks about being a different breed, when he says that, I think that he feels alone and misunderstood. He feels out of place in this world. Maybe the alians symbolise normal people, and maybe the light sybolises his own world were he can be normal. To him the word sail means to escape, maybe an escape to his own world.

I don't care what it means - it has a lot of bass in it, and I like the tune - getting caught up in the meaning, if there is one, ruins the song.

The meaning of this video was very clear to me from the start. Both me and my 12 year old son have ADHD. It causes far more stress on your life than most people think, but it also makes you capable of amazing feats. I quit school in grade 11 and thought I was useless because I did not fit the mould that I was forced into, yet now am a very successful person. Franklin, Einstein, and Gates are a few in our club. I think that's where the illuminati come into play, yet the structured world keeps beating on us we can't admit we are a part of it much like the aliens we are forced to ignore the way things are supposed to be and function totally alone if we are to have any hope of being successful. A truly amazing song and video recognizing this very real and misunderstood condition.

In the song, he first says that he shows his love differently from everyone else, and sometimes you can't even tell he does. (Made it in my mind...) When he says: Blame it on my ADD, he really means blame it on my issues. (His ADD might be a real issue though) Then he means that a perfectly inoccent person ( This is how an angle cries) is hurting because of his issues (...my own sick pride...) Then he says Sail, meaning leave. Then he contemplates getting help and killing himself to get rid of the problem. Then he explaines that he is different and that sometimes he doesn't pay attention to her/him. Then, he says: Sail away with me into the dark- meaning just come with me whether I change or not.
You might have a different interpretation, but this is mine.

This song is from the mind of an adult who was diagnosed as a child with a d d but in reality has aspergers . The adult has trouble understanding the difference between thierself self other people. They stick thief head in the sand to it and just blame it on the ADD never knowing that it is something more. The song is likely a ploy to get those who have these thoughts in thier mind to think about it and possibly step out of the shadows about thier affliction.

The song is about an adult man who was diagnosed with add as a child but in reality has Asbergers. As a functional but still struggling adult aspire he still has many questions in his mind about why he is SO different, even from others who have add. Not knowing on not wanting to believe it could be something else he shrugs it off and says "blame it on the add, or maybe I'm just a different breed". Many adults today with asbergers were falsely diagnosed with add by doctors who had no other explanation for third behavior and have frowns to adults wondering why they are so different than other people. Oh well, blame it on the add. Or maybe I'm just a differnt breed SAIL!.......Think about it.........................................................!

I think this song is generally about a troubled man who has a problem with his ADD.He could have been dreaming/day-dreaming all of this up. Maybe he was out of Adderall and his mind started wandering again; imagining he's being chased by something unknown.I think "sail" means to let go of what you can't control."I made it in my mind because"..A very good imagination because he couldn't help it.

Nope.. It's about someone trying to stop using drugs for a loved one. Then tries to kill themselves before finally giving into the addiction.
