Sail Lyrics

SAIL!

This is how i show my love
Made it in my mind because
Blame it on my ADD baby

This is how an angel dies
Blame it on my own sick pride
Blame it on my ADD baby

SAIL!
SAIL!
SAIL!
SAIL!
SAIL!

Maybe i should cry for help...

You people are fugging morons. It is not about aliens, the Illuminati, or anything like that. It is about a relationship....simple as that.

it's about escaping the insanity that you can create within your own mind. instead of thinking so deep into everything and trying to make yourself depressed, the song is about just lifting away from your depression in a way. the verses will tell you how people will bring themselves down, and dwell on every little thing they do wrong, while the chorus (of course, the word "sail") is just saying, instead of doing that, clear your mind and realize everyone makes mistakes and no one's perfect, so don't force blame on yourself. As Aaron said, everyone has their own way of sailing.

running from the illuminati. in the begining he looks out the window to see himself floating like he is at the end. so hes running but he may not always be sure from what. he is obviously tortured by his knowledge and his love is his sharing of that knowledge at the expense of himself. because if you notice by the end whatever was chasing him has caught him. well duh where do you think he got the money to make the video? the evil that is chasing him! hes trying to warn us not to let distractions get in the way, we need to just SAIL.... before its too late and we are all consumed by the evil right outside our windows.

i'd just like to say first off this song really got to me i like it alot.. its one that u hear and are like omg what was that one song i searched for it for weeks .. any ways i see all these posts about people being like there talking about a girl or w/e i dont think thats it at all .. i truely believe that any one who has actually been diagonsed with A.D.D. could realize wut this is saying...and by actually i mean went to mutiple hospitals in the early 90'S or before... cause now days there diagonoising every other child with it and thats just lazy parents that think they cant handle their kids.. so hers my real thoughts hes just thinking hes outa his mind in general and the only explaination he has for it is his A.D.D.. OR he knows alot more than other people so hes like man if i tell my friends about all the bull going on in the world there gonna think im crazy or not believe me... so i'l keep it to my self and blame it on my add .. any one agree

Ok this is how I see it. There is special schools for the disabled people and those were good to help the truly disabled however lots of kids would go there just to get an easy ride on life. Example "sail" is like just sailing through with no worries. I think Awol is kinda mocking the people who do this. Many of the verse's point to this as-well, like "This is how an angel dies,Blame it on my own sick pride". This is saying how when parents call their kids their little angel, the angel dies because it is sinning. Blame it on my own sick pride is saying how they knows their sense of pride is sick because they just get an easy ride bu they don't care. The popular line in this song of "Blame it on my ADD" i what these kids would say whenever they got in trouble as an excuse. "Maybe i should cry for help
Maybe i should kill myself" Is also Awol mocking the kids when because they say this only to get attention.
As for the video I think it was metaphoric for once the child becomes grown up they will never be able to get away from the sins of their past. The Illuminati symbol is also metaphoric for the feeling that you always feel like someone will find out your secret or that someone is watching you when you do something bad.

I haven't seen anyone mention the obvious homophonic relationship between the words "sail" and "sale". One is to take to the open seas, free as the wind, the other, well, sell out, sell your soul, allow yourself to be bought, etc...

I think it means he is running away from his problems or possibly he messed up in his relatioship and he doesnt wasnt to take the blame himself so he is saying "its not my fault, i didnt do it, i would be a better person if it werent for my A.D.D."
so he is saying to blame it on his A.D.D. this is just my interpretation and my perspective.

OK sooooooo if anyone noticed the "All Seeing Eye", it obviously has something to do with the Illuminati and the whole scanning thing has to do with Big Brother and what not finding out everything about you..... so when he hides in the bathtub he's hiding from it. and when he says "sail" its like being free and not being watched 24/7 by big brother......

could i just say that i have been diagnosed with ADD and ADHD, and no i am not an outcast, and yes i do get good grades. I do not use any drugs (ritalin) to enhance my performance, in fact, i just daydream and talk a lot, which gave society the idea that anyone who does something differently has "ADD" or "ADHD" and should be put on drugs to go to school. nothing to do with the song, but the top poster said he was isolated because of ADD, which is "BS".

Sociopathy/ASPD is often misdiagnosed as ADD/ADHD. Look up ASPD then listen to this song again. :)

I believe that from the video you may think its all UFO related but I have a unique theory.
That the video is more or less a Suicide song the lights are the operating table and his reference to "his own supply" its away of showing he overdosed ( explained when he showed him self in tub as if it was suicide) he wakes up and is floating away or sailing to heaven and yet aging is rising to the sky where the lights are or in my inculpation is the operation table lights but also giving double meaning floating to heaven.
Great song and video it really gets the viewer to think and have his own interpretation and good music can do that so you can relate to it in your own way.

I think that this song is streat up about the illuminati! Think about it... If you know about it then you should understand why I think this. Seriously, he blames his A.D.D for not knowing what he was getting hisself into, for not listening. He says, "Maybe I'm a different breed." Because he doesn't know anymore what he really is & what he's a part of. Now, I don't exactly know what he's talking about when he says, "This is how I show my love I made it in my mind because..." & when he says, "Sail with me into the dark." It's all brain wash! This whole song is brain wash! Every person that puts their self into the music industry is setting their selfs up! I just wonder what this sounds like backwards..

I think the artist is addicted to some type of amphetamine, most likely Meth and his choice of lyrics and metaphoric interpratation only strengthens my theory. Tweekers commonly smoke it by evaporating it on tin foil which is called smoking a boat, the word sail directly correlates with a boat hense a sailboat. Pharmicutical grade amphetamines called adderal is the most common treatment for add and adhd. He self medicates with meth and blames it on his add. Hiding his addiction he isolates himself from anyone who trys to help him. He lives an alternate or hardcore lifestyle caught up in his addiction, maybe he is the meth cook, so extreme it appear alienlike or extraterrestrial to the ordinary everyday person. He cant run or escape from his ugly addiction. He shares his product with women free, how he shows his love by how many boats of dope he smokes for no cost. Angel death is a reference to a good person who got hooked on an evil drug. Made it in my mind could be a ref to meth cook. With a ten year prison min mandatory for manufacturing dope anyone who is involved in meth synth always i mean always speaks metaphorically regarding this bad habit. The eyes symbolize the paranoia that comes with the kingpin spun out lifestyle, where users never feel totally alone when users are geeking. Meth is ugly and deadly, like aliens, and will find users no matter how far they run, they cant run from the monsters or aliens in themselves. Sail means smoke another meth boat he is saying screw it lets get high blame it on a disease that amphetamines are commonly prescribed to mask/relieve in school aged children. the writer for sail by awolnation secrectly battles a violent war inside themselves against an intense meth addiction. LOVE THE SONG THATS WHAT I THINK AFTER 1000 plays. Every single word makes perfect sense or I am just that messed up from 14 years of hiding and fighting it myself.
