Breaking Benjamin: The Diary of Jane Meaning
Song Released: 2006
The Diary of Jane Lyrics
I would put myself right beside you
So let me ask
Would you like that?
Would you like that?
And I don't mind
If you say this love is the last time
So now I'll ask
Do you like that?
Do you like that?
No!
Something's...

Im 99% sure that The Song Diary Of Jane by breaking Benjamin is about the Story "The Yellow Wallpaper" Read it and Than Watch the music video their is parts in it where The wallpaper in the house is yellow and A Good bit of the lyrics come straight from the Book. And at the End of "The Yellow Wallpaper" the main character (Girl in Diary of Jane music music video) States her name Jane which is never mentioned before in the book, in a third person point of view as is Ben when he's Singing the Song. Oh and the whole story is actually her Diary Hence The Diary of Jane. Theres more to it than that too but its too much to write and you'll just have to read the story and figure it out for yourself.

I think the song is about a guy who is wondering why his girlfriend is acting depressed and lonely around him . Also I think she doesn't fully understand why she loved him in the first place and then she commits suicide showing she couldn't take not knowing why. Then he finds out and doesn't understand what would make her do this especially if she did it to get away from him. Now he is this hopeless romantic who would do anything for her even if he had to die for it....he would do anything for anyone he just wants to be loved by someone. The diary of Jane ( the diary) is practically literal. If you watch the video you will understand. I hope this gives you guys some clue about this song.

Well, it is, without a doubt, a depressing love song.
We do think, however, that it might be about a guy in a relationship with a girl hooked on drugs.
For example, "As I burn another page // As I look the other way" sounds like he's in denial about her drug issues.
On the other hand, we may be full of hot air. -
I think that this song is about a man and wife wanting to get along, he tries but fails, he says "I dont care if this love(sex) is the last time, so let me ask (he tries to make her confortable) do you like that?do you like that?" But theres no feeling for him, so he tries to to read her diary, not a real diary, like her diary of things she feels, like i felt this and i liked it, i felt that and i dint like it, he tries to figure out how to please her by reading rhe diary of things she tells him daily, remember he is desperate, every day she is imposible to please.

I believe that there are many interpperations to 'The diary of Jane'. This song is very deep and is seen differently to everybody.
I think that it's about a guy trying to find his place in Jane's life ('I will try to find my place in the diary of Jane') Jane is trying to find who she is and he is wanting to be in her life. I think all comments made are great. I've fallen in love with this song after not long finding it on my ipod :) Definatley my favourate song at the moment :) -
the person right under me makes the most sense. when you listen to the song you try to find out what hes talking about but you cant. this person interpets it the best. and the song is deep and passionate and sad to in a way. i love this song. my favorite song.

I think it's about a married couple; the husband's wife died, he was lousy and never gave her the love and attention she deserved. He finds a diary that belonged to her, he reads how she hated herself and that wanted to die. "If I had to I would put myself right beside you", it must have meant he wished he could have been there or had known that she was sick of living. "As I lie down sore and sick", he's sick with guilt for not knowing and for being so horrible to her emotionally. "As I look the other way" it must mean how he is trying to move on, but he is always think about how he could have been better to her. "I will try to find my place in the diary of Jane" must mean he can't find his place as someone who made her happy, but keeps looking. "Die for anyone" I think it means he would have done anything for her. "What have I become?" It means he hates what he became after being with her.He finally just throws her diary in the fire and lets it burn.
Hope you enjoyed my analyses on this song, it was very classic and dark. -

He's talking about a girl who he had feelings for but he never knew if she liked him the same away. She killed herself because she was depressed and felt lost. He had her diary and was reading it to see if she had ever written about him "I will try to find my place in the diary of Jane"
-
I know all about her not knowing who she is(hence no reflection in the mirror) and all the simple stuff. but i want to know who jane was like if she was real and what her diary said about him and if he really knew a girl and who the song is about. Not just the outline. I wanna know WHY he wrote the song.

It's about a guy and a girl who had done it then died. And a useless diary.
-
A girl has problems with her life and a man falls in love with her. He doesn't know what her feelings for him are. She either die or kills herself (look at the grave in the video). He finds her diary and is looking through it, trying to find out if, or what, she has said about him.
