Unknown Soldier Lyrics

Border line,
Dead inside.
I don't mind,
Falling to pieces.
Count me in, violent
Let's begin, feeding the sickness.
How do I simplify,
Dislocate - the enemy's on the way.

[Chorus:]
Show me what it's like
To dream in black and...

I really love and respect Breaking Benjamin in a sense that they put so much profound meaning into their music and yet they don't straight out say what exactly it is that they're trying to say--they let the listener interpret it the way they want to--I believe this particular song could be about someone that is ashamed of the life they have lived and thus they are "dead inside,"however they want to have an epiphany or revelation so that they can change for the better of everyone around them; they're in a constant fight and no one even realizes it, thus they are an "Unknown Soldier."

I think this song is about a guy who was cursed with eternal life and all his loved ones have gone to haven and he tries to go to heaven but he can't so he tries to fight his way to haven.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

This song is about a dying soldier, and his life is almost over, help is on the way but he doesn't think he'll make it. He speaks in hope of going to heaven and he's going to die unknown. O and whoever just got out of a relation ship hang in there I know it sucks.

Ok I'm sending this beacause I beilieve I know what it really means first hand, though the int. above is so close.

Anywayi believe its meaning is so deep only someone just losing their true love from a hard relationship can catch it. I think the person just lost their boy/girlfriend and now they're on the borderline of suicide and just not caring wat happens to them anymore. Then they think back to all the good times they had with that person before evrything went to hell(if I may) then as they think back they find what went wrong and its what they were fearing would never go wrong(-Full of fear, Ever clear-)) then they get the feeling of what if they go to their lost love wandering how they feel now, turning to another argument (-Curious, Venomous-) now, their feelings now pushed to the limit they feel, in hatred, they want to die and their lost love to know they died, but (-nevermind, turn back time-) they realize that their lost love will go on with their life like nothing happened (-You'll be fine-) and now they are left with nothing (-I will get left behind-)

This might just be me but I honestly think that very rarely are their lyrics actually written to mean anything. I've always loved this band for their sound, the way the music affects me, not their lyrics or their message.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

I see this song being one of two things.
    1- Talking about suicide.
2- Somewhat a song from a solier's point of view. (sorry to point out things that are so obvious)

1- "You'll find me/climbing to heaven/nevermind/turn back time/you'll be fine/I will be left behind" it makes me believe that this person has lost someone recently and is so depressed they are going to take their own lives in hope to see their friend (or whoever died) in heaven, but then they fear they will be left behind (and sent to hell) for their actions.
"It only hurts just once," = pretty self-explaining.

2-"You'll be fine - I will get left behind." I'm sure people have heard of war heroes who save a victim by giving his/her own life. (like in Mark Schultz's song Letters from War... Sad song =[ )
Also "it only hurts just once/they're only broken bones," again, pretty self-explaining.
