Ed Sheeran: Lego House Meaning
Song Released: 2011
Lego House Lyrics
and build a lego house
when things go wrong we can knock it down
but these three words have two meanings,
there's one thing on my mind
It's all for you
And it's dark in a cold December, but I've got ya to...

"but these three words have two meanings,

I interpret it as the word "I Love You" has 2 meanings for him but for sure the 2 are all for that girl. Nobody knows what the other meaning is except for the writers. -
I took a different view to this song and video as what most people did. I believe that it is about not knowing who you are, learning to love yourself. You feel like you are two people, this big famous star who everyone loves, and the person you see yourself as; someone who doesn't like himself, perhaps is mentally unwell such as with bi-polar? And he is jealous of this person who he is not, but everyone sees him as.. That was my personal interpretation any way, I can see where everyone else is coming from though

Obsession.

i reckon it's about having to break up with someone you love because you need to concentrate on other things like career etc. as much as you love them you just cant be with them but all the time you spend apart and everything that you are doing and is happening for you makes you love this person more. doing it all for you in time i think means that one day we will be able to be together and have it all.
and obviously you still love them and will do everything to protect them and keep them safe -
I would like to think that its a hopeful song about a relaitionship that has a few ups and downs, but with everything thats going on, its making them stronger as a couple, and loving each more or "better"
thats what i reckon :) -
My thoughts are that the fact Rupert and Ed look so alike that maybe Ed lost himself in his life . The part with the drawing of Ed and then 'me' which was just an empty looking picture kind of made me think that he didn't feel himself anymore. But it gets confusing at the end and makes you think it is about an obsessive fan however it's as though Rupert is Ed when he is looking back on what he had before he lost himself . ??

All these comments are really helpful! Thankyou. But I was wondering if the fact that ed and rupert look so similar had anything to do with it? Any ideas? :)

The song is about wanting something or someone so badly, that you loose yourself in it all and finally accepting yourself and your own life. You can build a Lego house but it is not permanent, not the answer, not what you need. In this same respect, you can be in love with someone and no matter how much you fight to make it work, it wont. The ending leaves you somber, yet more fulfilled, like you are more at piece with circumstances. Also it is about one of his fans that madly became obsessed with him and they tried to go everywhere he had visited.
-
I think the song is about himself growing as a person, overcoming issues and moving forward, accepting that there's no guarantees. The life you build for yourself can be easily knocked down like a lego house.
-
I personally think this song means that Rupert and Ed were brothers, and Ed left Rupert to be a singer. And thats the reason why Rupert goes to the stage, to see if that feeling is worth leaving his brother!!
The book which says Ed and Me is basically what makes me think they ate brothers! -

I Never Understood this at first lol so i sorta analysed line by line.
A Lego house can be built then knocked down then built back up again ect
I think its about a relationship which has many up and downs.
"The three words have two meanings"
#I love you where he actually means it or, i love you as in the total opposite.
He's trying to become a better person for the one he loves and hes loosing control and it will take time for him to support the person back
After all that's happened and 'all the things hes done' he will love the person better. -

I believe the song is about ones relationship with himself. Loving someone is also about loving yourself or be inlove with your own reflection. Thats why the 3 words have 2 meannings.
