Fully Alive Lyrics

Telling Layla's story spoken
'Bout how all her bones are broken
Hammers fall on all the pieces
Two months in the cover creases

Fully alive
More than most
Ready to smile and love life
Fully alive and she knows
How to believe in...

When I was at real fest she said she called it fully alive because she met some people who lost a lot but they were filled with life and joy.

I think this song is about a girl. a girl who has suffered a great deal in her time in this world. Still she fails to believe that there is no good in this world. She believes in good, and God for that matter. More than someone who has never suffered. She believes in herself, others around her, and GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This song is about a girl who is comparing her life to someone less fortunate "telling Layla's story spoken" this suggests that it is another girl telling the story of another girl named Layla "bout how all her bones were broken, hammers fall on all the pieces" this indicates that the girl she is telling about is less fortunate it's saying her bones were broken on a metaphorical scale "all my complaints shrink to nothing, I'm ashamed of all my somethings, fully alive more than most ready to smile and love life fully alive and she knows how to believe in futures" this describes how the girl telling the story feels when she sees all of the things this girl named Layla has gone through, and that she's ashamed of all the thing she complained about in her life ("somethings"), because this girl Layla has been through a lot worse and is still able to smile, live and love life, and belive in and hope for a better tomorrow

This song is basically about a young girl named 'Layla' who has been through suffering. But she is grateful for living through them. The song basically means to be grateful for the things and privileges you have in life. Even through all of Layla's pain she realizes she isn't in the worst condition possible. She is still alive.

I Think This Song Is So True & Really Inspiring. I Think Its About A Girl Who Has Had A Hard Life/Been Put Down So Many Times But She Still Loves Life And Apprecites Every Little Thing She Gets. She Never Gave In And Shes Still 100% "Fully Alive".She Can Still Smile. She Has Grown From Experience And Mistakes And Is A Stronger Person Because Of Everything Shes Been Through.

It Is An Amazing Song That Is So Inspiring Showing Anyone That Has Been Through Hard Times To Be Strong And Keep Pushing Through. It Shows U Can Do It No Matter What The Circumstance. It Inspired Me A Lot.

As I don't know how to quote in this forum - QUOTE - "Extra blurb about why I like this band
What I like about this band so much is that their songs are not just about god in strict sayings but more about life. I personally am agnostic in that I do believe in human spirit but for me I don't believe in the church's teaching or gods hand directly in bible. I agree with the band in almost all their songs though. being agnostic doesn't mean I am such a horrible person though. I have higher morals however than all most all of my friends who of them many are deeply religious. My morals may be different like how I believe intent to kill for any other reason that the defense of ones own life or anothers life voids that persons right to life. The main reason I am agnostic is that I don't believe that a benevolent god would require belief in him and not judging solely on actions as requiring belief shows arrogance and no true god can have a fault correct."

Your interpretation is of God is wrong, and whoever told you this, is way off base. Of course you have to believe in him to go to heaven, but you have a choice, free will, and you DON'T have to believe in him. But there are consequences, as there are for EVERYTHING in life. To use your example, take a life, go to jail. Why do you think we have something in place such as this. Why would God be any different? Look at God like a parent, as I am a parent, this is an easy analogy to put forth. You love your children unconditionally, literally. You ask your child to not touch your digital camera, once, twice, three times...then the child breaks it. Should there be a consequence for the child's action? Yes, the child should be punished in one form or another for going against what you stated. All God asks for is for you love, to love him for giving you life, for your very existence, if not for Him you wouldn't be here. Just as we expect our children to respect and love and fear (in a loving way, not a bad fear) us, that is what God asks. Is it arrogant for me to think my child should obey me? Is it arrogant to punish my child if he/she does something wrong? No...we are saved by grace and only by grace, our works CAN NOT and WILL NOT save us. I don't know if you'll ever read this, but if you do, take a look into the Holy Bible and all you'll see is God's love for us, and that all we have to do is love Him back and everything will fall into place.

As for the song, it's great, showing that no matter what happens in life, you have to know you have a life, and it's worth living, and in my opinion, although not specifically mentioned, God will comfort you and give you a better way as long as you love Him. Flyleaf rocks, this is the first song I have heard of theirs and am looking forward to hearing more soon. :)

    God Bless!!

The song is about a girl named Layla, and she is physically abused. But she is optimisticand loves life. The singer realizes that her problems are small compared to Layla.

This song is about Cassie one of the victims of the columbine shootings, I'm positive of this just because I know that before they shot them they were asking if they believed in god, and then they would laugh as they killed them. cassie was one of the victims and at one point in the song she does say jessie....she's referring to one of the shooters in the columbine shooting....and rachel was also a victim in it too.

the whole song talks about how even though cassie saw that the other people were being killed (wheather this is true or not,i doubt it but still:P) cassie and rachel still stayed true to their faith and answered yes even though they knew what was to happen if they said yes. Its hauntingly beautiful

At her concert she said that this song was about a woman who was beaten for years by her husband and she finally got sick of it and lit herself on fire in front of him and was burnt from head to toe.. She met this woman and said that she was the inspiration to this song

I also read somewhere that Layla refers to the wife of a member of Trust Company...and that her strength and radiance inspired Flyleaf to write this song. This band rocks because they're hard rock with a positive message. And usually I don't like to mix religion and music, but they do it subtly and without throwing it in your face.

im pretty sure this song might be saying that "Layla" has suffered and is ready to end her complaints , pain and stop feeling ashamed and basically start over and love life and smile instead nad make the best of it

"All my complaints shrink to nothing
I'm ashamed of all my somethings
She's glad for one day of comfort
    Only because she has suffered"

    "Fully alive
    More than most
Ready to smile and love life
    Fully alive and she knows
    How to believe in futures"

thats what I think it's about anyway but I'm not sure

    This song blew me away.
I First saw this amazing music video on FUSE TV, but had a little trouble listening to the words...

So, when I researched online about it, I became very emotional. This song... It means so much to me and being strong.

I really like this part in the song:
"all my complaints shrink to nothing
i'm ashamed of all my somethings
she's glad for one day of comfort
    only because she has suffered"

It inspires me more than anything to be strong and stop living life so afraid.

I hope nothing but success to this band for creating such powerful music.
