Flyleaf: So I Thought Meaning
So I Thought Lyrics
To everlasting memories
Show soul
Kiss the stars with me
And dread the wait for
Stupid calls returning us to life
We say to those who are in love
It can't be true 'cause we're too young
I know that's...
-
Well I see it like this:
i relate it as a girl who is in love with a boy to the point of obsession. a year later she looks back on it and can't talk about it, because she hated how she fell for him so bad. She then slips into an over whelming sadness. She looks back on all her memories and wishes she could go back. She spends her time wishing.
Then I think about her dying. Telling everyone in her life to remember her and pray for her. And when she finally slips away she sees jesus and knows she'll finally be ok. -
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

This song is about how she was in a relationship that she thought was going good, until she was abused, and that she couldn't talk to anyone about it because she was scared, and was hoping things would get better
-
This song is about pain, and love, and about a girl that has been 2 pure hell, and only GOD can heal her when she gets hurt.

This song is about when she met god.
I watched her explain her testimony and she mentioned about when her life was crumbling down and she briefly said I lost my boyfriend
and then she went to church and found god.
I think that this song is summarizing the boyfriend part and the god part there isn't much god in this but a little bit -
I see this song as a girl who has been in love with a boy for a year ("A year goes by") but never brought herself to confess her feelings for him ("And I can't talk about it"). So all she can do is secretly hope that things turn out perfect. In fact, she becomes obsessive with her drive to make things work, blatantly shown in the lines "On my knees, dim-lighted room / Thoughts free-flow try to consume myself in this". She invites him to come with her and let love take them so far away that they'll be unreachable: "Kiss the stars with me and dread the wait for stupid calls returning us to life". The song nearly ends with a huge bridge where two people cry "And I'm praying that we will see / Something there, in between / Then and there that exceeds / All we can dream" - that's definitely the girl saying that she wants their relationship to end up too good to be. I don't really know why it's there, but to me the male voice singing along with her seems to me like a clear I-love-you-too message from him.
