The Loss Lyrics

Sick with myself, but I've got no one else,
so I give it to myself it's the only thing that helps
it's the same thing this pain thing that keeps me from sleeping
and screaming that god I must be motha f**king dreaming
and I can rest in peace and...

The first verse is about the absolute miserable state of mind a suicidal person is in and how he hurts himself on the outside just to cope with all the hurt on the inside.

The chorus explains this further while suggesting how he is considering ending his life.

The second verse is his best friend saying how betrayed he feels that he took his life and abandoned their friendship.

The bridge goes back to the guy ending his life, narrating his thought process. He's done with all of the pain and doesn't want to live that life anymore. He's not happy, but he's feeling somewhat at peace cause it's finally going to end. He says to not try to help him, you've done enough to keep him going and he'll be fine.

Powerful, powerful song if you've been in either of their positions.

I think the first verse is all about cutting which leads into the second verse about losing a friend who committed suicide.

Considering the fact I lost my dad a little less than a year ago to suicide, this song hit me on an emotional level. I understand the lyrics- you could say it's a two sided conversation, or someone's reaction to a suicidal death or loss- but I want to know the story behind the lyrics. I know, from experience, that losing someone to suicide can make you want to inflict self-harm, be it cutting or substance abuse or starvation. I've done all, to be honest, so God send me a sign that there's more this life without that person being there. Losing someone close to you changes your life forever- you expect them to be there with you, until you die, and suddenly they're gone. Maybe you didn't even know they were suicidal. Maybe you thought they were mostly okay, just fighting a few inner demons and with a little help they'd be fine, until you found out they were found with a bullet in their head and a suicide letter next to them in the passenger seat of their truck. Like I said- emotional level, experience, found the meaning.

This song is about losing his best friend and how he feels. It's not really talking about cutting himself it's more like how he feels about his life. The verse "Have you ever met a living legend, just a real friend who planned his
end and where do I began you said it was pretend. And when the bullet
went through it took more then just you, it took two it was you it was
me and suddenly...... How can someone say they're helpless and then they act so
selfish. You put me through hell with this so f**k you lets just end
this. And what about our friendship and what you did was senseless" Explains the WHOLE song.
