Maroon 5: She Will Be Loved Meaning
Song Released: 2004
She Will Be Loved Lyrics
She had some trouble with herself
He was always there to help her She always belonged to someone else
I drove for miles and miles
And wound up at your door
I've had you so many times but somehow
I want...

Basically... to make this simple...It is exactly like the Carla/Liam storyline in Coronation Street! :)
She loved him, he loved her, he always waited for her,but she was with someone else (Tony).
For those of you that don't watch Corrie just search for coronation street Carla and Liam on youtube or type in Carla Connor or Liam Connor on google and read about them on wikipedia :) -
ever think maybe the "girl" friend with a boyfriend loves the other guy, too?
-
i dont know what this song really means; thats why i came on this site to look for an answer. But i can tell you that you all are not even close! If youve seen the video it has a story line going about what looked like a guy who had to choose between this girl and the girls mom.
-
I think this song is about a guy who is secretly in love with a girl and they become friends and she is very beutiful and she has alot of boyfriends who hurt her in some way and she has broken spirit "broken smile" and he is always thier for her whenever she needs him.He is always thier to make her feel beutiful and love her when no one else will and he truly loves her and would wait for her or travel millions of miles to see and anytime she wants she can go to him and he wants her to feel the devotion and she will always be loved by him no matter what when i hear this song i cry because even tho it dosent exactly relate to me i think of my self and how i feel like he dose to a person who might never feel exactly the way i do but i truly love this song with all my heart

Beauty queen of only eighteen
She had some trouble with herself
He was always there to help her
She always belonged to someone else
to me its a complicated feeling because... i think it does mean that she has a boyfriend but its not just that, its everything.. her troubles could be a fake sense of security with the guy, or a fear of being alone, even though she might know that there si someone out there for her. Just plain insecurities, being used to being with the boyfriend, to me its a fear to the unknown.
I drove for miles and miles
And wound up at your door
I've had you so many times but somehow
I want more
here he is also confessing that he needs her, that even if he tries to look elsewhere for love, he will end up on her door, because he cant have enough of her
I don't mind spending everyday
Out on your corner in the pouring rain
Look for the girl with the broken smile
Ask her if she wants to stay awhile
And she will be loved
She will be loved
Tap on my window knock on my door
I want to make you feel beautiful
I know I tend to get so insecure
It doesn't matter anymore
he loves her, that he wants to confort her, to make her realize that the world is OK outside, that toghether they could make it.
He also says that he gets insecure because he is not sure if she loves him back, because of the many times he's told her to leave the boyfriend and she cant, but right that instant when theyre together it doesnt matter, even though later on it might hurt him.
It's not always rainbows and butterflies
It's compromise that moves us along, yeah
My heart is full and my door's always open
You can come anytime you want
Comprimse, its all he's asking, life is not a fantasy and they cannot keep on pretending, all he needs is for her to just say yes.. to him or to her boyfriend... but in the end she has to make a decision, and if she decides to love him, she is welcome anytime she wants.
I know where you hide
Alone in your car
Know all of the things that make you who you are
I know that goodbye means nothing at all
Comes back and begs me to catch her every time she falls
she saying goodbye to him is a lie because eventhough it hurts they need each other, and they know each other, and in the end she always wounds up asking for him to pick up her pieces because she needs him, love him.
Please don't try so hard to say goodbye
Try so hard to say goodbye
these are very contrasting feelings, its him asking her to STOP saying goodbye to him, but then wanting that goodbye because the whole situation hurts him.
ps. i know its not the standard way of seeing this song, but sometimes it depends on what life is giving you at the moment, to me its this, hope it helps someone :) -
i always thought the video was about a guy who is dating this girl but then is there for her mom when her mom is rejected by her husband and the mom and the guy are in love but the girl doesnt know til the end when the mom falls apart and he goes after her then the girl(the daughter) sees them. the song and the vid are totally opposite though...:)
-
I was very young when I first heard this song and back then I had no idea what it meant honestly I was unhappy as a kid my mother was ashamed of me and I felt unloved so I always thought this song was simliar to just a girl wanting to be loved by a guy and he would do anything for her
now that I'm older and listen to the lyrics and watched the video I see what it's about and I love it more I am depressed and I always have different boyfriends that I can't keep for long until we break up I kinda feel unloved and I know the song is also about abusive boyfriends so that's how the song is so much different from me even though I feel unloved I still never wasted my time on a guy like that and I all I want is someone who will love me and do anything to make me feel beautiful
I don't like the ending where the mom betrays her daughter by stealing adam I don't like to think of a song that has made me smile since I was a kid being about betrayal I just want to think of the part I always thought it was a guy who loves a girl who has had problems and just wanting to make her feel beautiful but I guess I just feel that way because I love this song -
Here are some disjointed ramblings on this great song.
Have just heard the song and read the lyrics and have to come a mixed bag of conclusions!
I have a very strong inclination to got for the beauty pageant turned prostitute theme. The man in the song is a friend-cum-client-cum-shoulder to cry on.
"I've had you so many times" must shoot down the unrequited love theorists here- it's pretty blatant that they have passed from a platonic level here.
She "belongs to someone else" could be another boyfriend but I go for the pay me I'm yours idea of prostitution .
The man can't kick the habit driving miles and miles (either literally or in his head going round and round in circles trying to get her out of his thoughts) but sex is dangerously addictive and
he "always ends up at (her)door".
she will be loved - sounds like an order or a desire . It's her destiny - either from within or from outside but she has no say in the matter and in times of needing a friend she'll turn to him but he can't handle the friend / lover set-up. He wants to make her his for ever by telling that life together will not be butterflies and rainbows , ie the fantasy world she may try to hide in ( like the physical space of the car she goes to after being hurt in her search for love )
but it's a cry from the inside from a guy who loves but has to make the commitment and compromise himself - is he man enough to tell her to quit seeing other men and to settle down with him?
Roxanne by The Police and She Smiled by a group of the same are also about prostitutes - men want to protect girls whose lives have gone astray but the pull of the game is very very strong.
Moral: respect for women please. -
You need to watch the official video to know what this song is about.
The beauty queen is the mother...she married a sugar daddy when she was 18 or so...he treats her like dirt, abuses her etc...when this happens Adam is there to pick up the pieces and always will be. He loves her...she loves him and she is afraid to leave the relationship...as you can imagine she is secure there and has all others needs met. Adam feels insecure sometimes because she won't leave him...but as he says it does not matter anymore. Adam is dating the daughter in the video and settles for that...but always catches the mom when she falls. The daughter caught them in the act 2 times in the video...at the end...it all comes out...except the husband does not care anyway. The fact that she is a beauty queen seems that she is now a washed up one...but she always belonged to the fans..she even makes attempt for limelight in the video poolside...it appeared pathetic and you feel sad for her. At one point she tries to make adam jealous by grabbing the husbands leg...and he sees the feeble attempt and the mother is drove over the edge and runs...this is the part where the daughter realizes that adam still loves the mother. At times I thought that the daughter was the mother...you just have to see the video..also I will point out if I had not seen the video..>I would totally buy the whole prostitute theory..it fits the bill. -
How I see it, this song is simply a song of how this guy loves this girl so much and he understands her deeply. Although he loves her, his understanding of her prevents him from stopping her. One of the lyrics "good bye means nothing to you at all" seems that she takes him for granted and the lyrics suggest that no matter what happens he's always there waiting to help her through it. They will never be and he understands that, and though every time they go through the same play his heart breaks, suggested at the end by "so hard to say goodbye", he'll keep loving her in the only way he can. Picking her back up and sewing the wounds closed.

I believe the song is about a guy that thinks his "girl" can do better and that if he can't love her then someone else should
-
I think this is about a guy who is best friends with a girl. She is always going out with other people, but through it all he is always there for her. He cares about her and wants to have a relationship with her because he thinks that she deserves better than the men she has been with
My favorite part is the bridge (i know where you hide alone in your car, know all of the things that make you who you are, i know that goodbye means nothing at all, comes back and begs me to catch her every time she falls). He is happy because even though they might not be together she is always the person she comes back to when things go wrong. He saying that he knows her better than anyone- he nows where she runs to when she wants to get away from it all, he knows all of her quirks. He knows that she will keep coming back to him and that he is the one that is there for her when it really matters, and he gives her the respect that she deserves -
I so agree with the poster in Feb 2009, this song is about the tragedy of human love and the beauty of spiritual, divine love. It is about God
-
... I am the friend in this song. One of my best friends is like this girl. shes sensitive, she has little self esteem, and i love her. her boyfriend isnt abusive, but... hes oblivious. he doesnt know what goes on with her. he doesnt know what lies with in her heart. and when he flirts with somebody, he means it. ive sworn to always be there for her, no matter what. yet... im also with my girlfriend, who i really love. ... ive also told my friend my feelings for her. ... ive also discovered that you can love somebody as a friend, not a lover, and still be happy. but... i still dream of being with my friend.

I love this song.
I think the way he said 'Beauty queen of only 18, she had some problems with herself,' shows that this woman has had many mental problems starting from a young age.
He is in love with a girl he is with now, and feels strong for her. But nothing compares to the woman he is 'in love' with. It's like an unbreakable love, and towards the end he decides to go with. The other girl has the rest of her life towards her as she is very young, but he is in deep, love with this woman and needs to be with her. He has got himself involved, and he loves her for who she is & whatever he past is.
Beautiful song in my opinion, quite self-explanitory though.
