Mayday Parade: Oh Well, Oh Well Meaning
Song Released: 2011
Oh Well, Oh Well Lyrics
When you're alone, do you think of me?
And my diamond ring's thrown out to sea.
And when you love, do you love for me?
Like harmony, a never ending dream.
Oh well, oh well. I still hope for the best.
Say goodbye...
-
Based from my imagination, understanding and the music video, so I'm sorry if this isn't accurate.
This song speaks about the guy's death. This are his parting messages to the girl, because he can see him suffering and crying over his dead body. This is proved by the song, "Say goodbye, and send me off with a kiss farewell."
"So here's your song, it's twisting me..."
This speaks of how the guy wanted to say something to the girl, but he can't because the girl won't be able to hear him. It's hurting him and he's wondering if he should just give it up and maybe he could just see the girl in the afterlife (Oh Well, Oh Well. Guess I'll see you in hell).
"And that was it, I have made it clean just across the street with my new wings.."
This part talks about how he was starting to decide to move on and leave the girl be because...
"When she smiles, it's got nothing to do with me."
She can see that the girl is moving on without him. She's starting to meet new friends and forget about him (Tell your new friends that they don't know you like I do.). But despite this, he will still keep watch over her until that day comes that they'll meet again. -
Him and this girl have been off and on friends and in a relationship and he loves her and thinks she is the one but she isn't putting as much into the relationship as he is and she's moved on, she doesn't hang out with him anymore. She hangs out with her new friends. He tries to get over her and he thinks its for the best that she is doing well and has moved on because their relationship was rocky but he can't stop thinking about her. He says he wants to be friends just to be with her but he wants more. He really loves her and wants to be with her
-
That there is love between them yet it is just hard to be shown and no matter what there is something in the way, and with everything that happens they don't want to wreck there friendship
-
This song is about giving your all to someone who isn't willing to do the same to you. Often in relationships one person is more devoted to the person they're dating as is the other person. This power struggle can leave someone completely broken down. No matter how hard they try to convince someone of their love and undying loyalty "it is hopeless." It is a sad song that is highly relateable.
-
This song is about trying to let someone go that you can't have but the heart is going through a tug of war. The song goes through the progression of their relationship.
