Mayday Parade: When You See My Friends Meaning
When You See My Friends Lyrics
You’re adorable as hell, but I’m glancing at your wrist.
Oh please have faith, I can be so cavalier.
And when they start to ask questions I’ll make sure to be clear.
When you see...

#1 top rated interpretation:I'm getting the impression that he left her because of her self harming. "You're adorable as hell, but I'm glancing at your wrist", "(you) cut like a knife to the bone", and also "Tell them what you think about the way you handled everything"
Maybe she died from self harm and "when you see my friends, tell them hi for me." means his friends that have passed away that he cant speak to anymore??? just a random thought. -
I think its about a young couple that shared the same group of friends and he tried his best to be a good partner for her but in the end she had too many problems and wouldn't communicate with him so he ran out of ways to try and help her with her self harm and other issues. Eventually the boy gives up because he doesn't know why the girl is being the way she is and he is looking for an explanation as to why she wouldn't communicate with him but he knows that she won't tell him so he's waiting for her to explain her side to their friends. She left him barely anything to work with. He's in a state of wondering and isn't over her but he knows she won't change the way she acts and that a relationship won't work out. That's just what I think.

I think this song is about obviously a relationship that failed. And that she cut. but I think the male in the relationship committed suicide rather than the girl, and the "when you see my friends tell them hi for me" is because he's dead so he can't. I might be interpreting this song all wrong, but that's how I see it

I think its bout his girlfriend that committed suicide.
"i burned out like a bright light, i wasn't ready for this' i think says that he knew she was suicidal but dint know that she was that bad..
'your adorable as he'll but Im glancing at your wrists' might be when she is in the coffin and he is saying how beautiful ahead is but he keeps glancing at heterosexual wrists because he might believe that he could have prevented it.
The chorus i think is bout how he's telling her to say hi to his friends that have already committed suicide and talk to them how she handled the whole thing. And how she left him broken because he was the 'key to her heart' and no its broken because she us gone.
He then reflects back on the past and the fights that might have make her in the state she was in to commit suicide. 'where you honest with yourself, every version of yourself' she might not have been honest with her true self because he just faked being happy and stuff.
He mentions her stopping at the side of the road. I think this is a reference to the road if like and how you have to keep moving on and she stopped and gave up (suicide)
the last verse i think is about him wanting to join her in heaven. How he wants to give her his life so he can see her again. So he can be completed again and be a man.
When he refers to the bottom of the ocean i think its like the bottom of depression...? And that he is going to die like she did with scares on his wrists( cut his wrist and bleed out)
In the last chorus i think he is saying how neat and clean her suicidal was and how he even made that look beautiful. -
"It’s about a relationship where it is a self destructive relationship that you want it to go good but the entire time in the relationship it ends up going bad. You end up not being the person you want to try to fulfill the needs of you the other person and the relationship the entire time is just continually crumbling on itself and it’s just about getting out of those types of relationships." -Jeremy from Mayday Parade
